1st game of the year for SJC - Ish had 10 at half and imagine he sat a lot of the 2nd half given the blowout.

SJC beat McNamara last night 63-58. Mekhi Long played for McNamara last year.
Leggett was leading scorer with 17. Square had 14, Wilson 10 & Hansberry 10.

Not only that but he hit a mid range step back in a very key moment of the game to salt the game away with 20ish seconds on the clock. That's a quality you like in a future recruit you just cant teach. The want to take the last shot when the game is on the line.

Rodney Rice from Bullis was also 6-10 from 3 and went for 28. He’s a sophomore, and I believe he has a URI offer (along with offers from PC and some other east coast schools).

DC Rams and other posters from the DMV could speak better to this.
SJC is a very young team. They lost Darius Maddox who would’ve been theIr top player. He transferred to Oak Hill for his Sr year.

When looking at shooters it’s good to correlate Free Throw Shooting efficiency:
Through first 5 games:
Game / Free Throws / Points
1 (3-4) 13 points
2 (4-5) 19 points
3 (5-6) 17 points
4 (0-1) 22 points
5 (12-13) 26 points

Total FT (24-29)= 83% including an outstanding 12-13 in his last game when he scored 26 points

I live in the areas and follow the high school scene pretty closely - but do not go to a lot of games like DC and others.
They are young but have 2 or 3 strong underclassmen, one who is looking like a P5 recruit.

they are currently ranked 5th in the area, but it's early. regardless, I love that our two recruits play in strong leagues.
Part of the reason long and toppin are we they are this year.

From the Reading Eagle article on the game:
The Cadets were the biggest and most talented team the Red Knights have faced, and 6-4 senior guard Ishmael Leggett, a Rhode Island recruit, is easily the best player they've seen.

He took it to them, scoring a game-high 23 points, 16 of them in the second half, including a pair of clutch free throws with 10.7 seconds left that pushed the Washington, D.C., club's lead to three.

Leggett went off in the third quarter, scoring 10 points and sparking a 14-0 run that put Reading in an eight-point ditch.

Reading has a decent enough public high school basketball program that usually does well locally. They’re not a national power at all but did get some nice attention when Lonnie Walker was there a couple years ago (played Imhotep when Fatts was there, Imhotep was the much better team). Don’t think there are any D1 prospects on the roster. It’s a very high-needs community, and most guys from the area go elsewhere to focus on basketball if they have the ability and opportunity. It’s why Lonnie continues to mean a lot to that community- and Donyell Marshall from way back. Sorry for jumping in, but it’s an area that’s kind of special to me.

He looks strong already - if he is really 6'4" that would be exceptional.
Regardless, he looks to be a pure scorer which will give us a nice boost next year.

Here are the pictures posted in twitter by Scott Brand from the St Johns College vs Reading Game are the MVPs from each team

I also attached another source of heights that lists Leggett as 6’4” and Brea as 5’11” which would be a difference of 5 inches between them IF both heights are correct.

Leggett is quite a bit taller than both guys he is with in the picture while Brea is quite a bit shorter than the same two guys. The camera angle appears to be the same for each picture.

Looks to me that Leggett is a good 8 inches taller than Brea, maybe more.

A good Question is what are the heights of the two guys in the picture with Leggett and Brea?

Scott, do you happen to know who these two guys are who are giving the MVP Awards and their respective heights?

Slim, DC_Rams, JustKenny and others from DC area who see games live, do you thing Leggett is 6’4”, or 6’2” or other? How is his height compared to his Freshman teammate Hansberry who is listed at 6’7”?

Has Leggett grown recently since the 6’2” was reported and now we are seeing 6’4” being reported as well?

Hansberry is 6’6. He doesn’t seem tall at all.

There is no way he is 6’4, but let’s not act like 6’2 is short. He will likely be 6’3, Jeff’s height, when he arrives on campus.

He's tall enough to play the 2.

More flexibility at the guard positions...where Fatts can't really play at the 2 at 5'8".

Eh, 6'2" or 6'4" doesn't strike me as a huge difference. It's not like he's going to be logging minutes at the 4, and at 6'2" nowadays, you're in the 1 to 3 mix. If he was Fatts-sized, yeah, maybe you have trouble playing him at the 2, and definitely at the 3.

Looking at this picture from the summer he is probably closer to 6'4" when you look at him compared to TJ. I'm not sure it matters a whole lot, he will be successful at either height.
