We started 2 centers and a freshman PG against the most high ball pressure team on our schedule. What could possibly go wrong? This is where he shows no feel for his players and the game. Sheppard is the only guy on our team that can dribble through their pressure which at times you need to do. See previous games where Fatts basically broke their press on his own. Sheppard is from Richmond and in his last go around chances are he’s extra excited to be home and plays with an edge. Thomas has never seen pressure like VCu and his outlets are 2 big men and 2 ok ball handlers. The first two minutes we couldn’t get a shot off. You set Thomas up to fail and hurt the team. If anything this was the game to start them both and sit 1 of the Ish’s (take your pick). Regardless this is something as a coach you have to have a feel for knowing VCU, your guys, etc.

Then you yank Thomas and never play him again. That is how u kill a players confidence. First u throw him to the wolves (when u shouldn’t have) and then u yank him after a rough couple minutes and never use him again. Bet he comes out with tons of swag next game!

Yup all good points , Cox feel for the game is just very poor , he is just way in over his head and its getting worse in year 4
