It'd be like the same if you once had a chance at Charlize Theron and Scarlett
Johansson, (fill in your two fantasy crushes) and they became available. You'd want them, because you were involved before,
for obvious reasons.
Suddenly out of the blue, you have a possibility to be with them again.
However, one decides to go with a richer guy, and the one you really wanted may be
going with your worst enemy.
Frustration? You bet.

Yeah no disagreement here on this point at all. It's definitely frustrating. It just seems like for some its swung completely the other way to now being a failure, when previously most were generally happy (granted not ecstatic, there were still needs).

True. You might be content with what you have, and someone dangles
a nice better job in front of you.
You never considered leaving your job, but now, you'll get something better.
Then the job goes to someone else.
You're disappointed, frustrated, and feel maybe it was just a tease.
Now, you look at the job you were going to leave, and it you're no
longer as content as you were before the new job was presented to you
as a possibility. My round about point is, you could be perfectly satisfied in a situation,
and if something better is presented, you go for it, and if you don't attain it,
you're not happy with events.

Generally happy is probably a little much, no? Butler, Watson, Garrett in 18 months? List the two best (only?) recruiters. These things can turn on a dime as we all know. Get two out of three of these guys and suddenly it is a big party. But, I absolutely thought DH would be further along in recruiting. Look at who said no to Rhody over the last 18 months and the schools we lost out to. I legitimately believed we would be mixing it up with the Power 5 pretty consistently by now. I mean, Garrett is the lone bright spot of almost 18 months and he (granted a late riser...great senior year) was ranked around 250-300 without a Power 5 offer.

Really difficult to remain positive at this point in the cycle .

The following link is what Bobby has recruited at Buffalo; sure looks better than us AND IN BUFFALO.

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/baske ... /_/id/2084

(I wonder if he was the one with Michigan connections)

As tough as it is to do, I will wait for the Fat Lady to Sing, it is still 17 days until May 21 and the close of the signing period.

Bobby hired EC's coach Nate Oates to plumb the
Michigan pipeline, which he was impressed with.
Long time until the deadline and anything can happen.
I hope it does, because so far, it's crickets.

Joe Mbang didn't really do either of those things well though, plus he fouled a ton, which limited his minutes: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Joe ... 736/stats/

Maybe a shooter or better players just don't want to play here.. Really what is the selling point?? Playing time probably... Great coach.. Not committing to that yet. Good team.. Not for a long time.. Great fans.. Eh!! Some of us, but 1/2 empty building most of the time.. Nice campus.. Yes, but who does that attract.. May be the best we can hope for is to attract good athletes that are intelligent, play good defense and maybe can be coached up.. The competition for the elite players is obviously stiff.. This is where Hurley needs to get good players in and prove that he is a good coach.. Want to see good pressure"D" and maybe some fast break offense.. Could be more entertaining than what we have seen in a long time.. That's what we should hope for!!

This has been discussed to death.
If that's your recruiting philosophy, then I guess you long for Baron-Ball minus the getting coached-up. That's not the plan. Coach Hurley didn't inherit what he thought he was. Year One was a wash because of it. Year Two he had to deal with a point guard quitting, a big man taking a personal leave, a key injury, etc., Year Three will tell a lot. Two sophomores who will continue to get better, and finally a point guard who apparently has the goods to deliver. We all expect and demand better.
Recruiting-wise, Luke Murray had better produce for the Fall Signing Period, that'll be his moment of Recruiter's Truth. We'll see if there are real players sought by Big-Time Programs, not just what URI has done since the CFL years.
Plus, Coach Cox seemed to be quite the recruiter for Eddie Jordan. Let's see if he can do the same -- or -- even better for URI.
This "settling" nonsense has got to go. One uses a beautiful campus, its plethora of academic programs, support staff, athletic support amenities, etc., to be used as individual elements, pieces to the whole.
Drop the Rhode Island, Mediocrity is Great, mentality. It's nauseating.

Very disappointing they can't seem to recruit a shooter.
I think one of those Buffalo recruits could play in the A10, big at least Bobby is signing players

With some of our other potential targets signing elsewhere in the past day or two, it seems as if it's down to Cooke or Ingram, or someone out of the blue, or a saved scholly for '15.

Is it weird that I'm pretty ok with our roster as it currently exists? That's weird to say. I never though I'd be a "hold onto one for next year" guy, but that might be how I'm leaning. I want our young back court to get plenty of minutes and would prefer not to have a one-year rental thrown into the mix. I would definitely take Cooke, however. Seems like he might be a great replacement for TJ after this season. Ingram too, to compete with Jarrelle. Other than that...

Agree. Concentrate on 2015, maybe Cooke.
If they could ever get Falzon, look out!
They need a stretch four type to replace Gil, and a swingman.
Other than that, no crying needs are obvious.
If we do that, then we'll have a roster that just reloads, instead of
having to start over ever few years, like CFL did by overloading one class,
and having to replace them.
Keeping the classes spaced is a key to program building.

Well, he is a proven player, and I suppose Eduardo didn't think JT is proven enough. Oh, well, poor PC. Plus, just think of the peripheral benefit if Mason signs on with the Friars: PC gets its own adult enforcer when Big Daddy sits behind the bench!!!!! Anthony Mason was a fixture at the Purple games…..Man, PC sure could have used him this year.

Starting on June 15th, coaching staffs were permitted to personally contact the '16s. There are tons of offers and "offers" floating around out there, but the emerging focus is pretty clear- New England (MA), NYC/Northern Jersey, Philly, and DC areas.

It also seems that they're not shying away from the 4-star and 5-star players. A side-effect of signing Jared Terrell? Hiring David Cox?

I think, if you look back, they're returning to where they started with Hurley. Before he coached a game, they were in on some very highly ranked players and ended up getting EC. That will always be the big one to me- that the staff could get a guy of his ability, promise to play pg or not, to buy in and commit and to stick it out after a somewhat rough year in a transfer climate.

The results the first two years were not what they wanted (for a variety of reasons), and it seemed as if the '14 class was going to be the most difficult to pull off. Of course, they end up with Terrell to add to Watson and Garrett, and the recruiting here continues its momentum. You can see the thought process- get in early on these guys, develop the relationship during their junior years, while being able to (hopefully) promote a winning program where freshmen develop and are recognized, in the conference and nationally.

The start of summer is always quite busy for me personally with work, and I'm not able to keep up with everything id like to.

But I must say; Ace over the last week (and always) you have been on point. Its been great to pop on here and see what weve been up to in the tampering period. Thanks for doing such a great job and keep up the good work. Its truly appreciated.

There's about 20 or so fifth-year seniors still available, including a couple the staff has connections with. If there's a scholarship left, Hurley has to decide if he wants to use one on a 5th-year player. The other option is to leave it open and see what transfers become available at semester break

I prefer northeast corridor recruiting for us, but with the record for DH with the 3 guys from michigan can't be beat.

He has EC returning frosh of the year.

Hare, is the good guy story for DH.

TJ, looks like he will end up a coach, testament to DH also.

If Preston was still here that pipeline would be cemented, but without him, I think Dan still has some ins to michigan.
I want to change my name to BlockIslandFerry
