SLU looked in control up 9 but Daly with back to back 3 pointers have them down 5 with 3 to play.

Joes has the same retros on as PC wore earlier. I think I saw VCU wear there’s recently. It’s more a retro look than a throwback specific to each school but they’re really clean looking.

How did Ryan Daley end up at St Joes. 35 points vs SLU. Down 2 with 30 seconds. He has scored 11 points on their last 4 possessions

SLU up 2 with 12 secs left going to the line.
Daly tried to take a bad 3. As good as he’s been- not the shot.

Alabama with the loss at home along with losing Herb Jones to injury for a while.
Whole we’d like them to get to a Q1 win for us, we’re also battling with them for a bid.

SLU escapes with the 78-73 win. Perkins has 33 for SLU and Daly 35 for the Hawks.

Davidson scored 58 against us last month. They have only 8 less points in the first half tonight.
Not sure if I’m hoping the rout continues or if that will wake up UMass Tuesday.

URI OOC opponents went 5-4 on the day - prominent losses were suffered by Alabama, Western Kentucky. Long Island, the NEC pre season favorite, continues to disappoint and Middle Tennessee surprisingly notched a road win.

You can't trust any of those other teams. That's why ya gotta beat everyone you play, and hope all those you're in contention with lose.

I do not want Davidson in the A10 tourney.
The game down there going to be very tough.

If we keep playing the way we have been playing I'm not afraid of anybody in the A-10, but Dayton.
Not that I'd be afraid for us to play them, but right now the eye test tells me we have separated from everyone below us in the standings.
Its
Dayton
Rhody
VCU
Richmond
SLU
Duquesne
And the rest.

I’m surprised Utah State’s bubble position is so weak coming into today - they’re projected well outside the field as of now in the “next 4 out” but they are giving undefeated San Diego State all sorts of problems right now, at San Diego State.

Utah St was top 25 preseason but they have underperformed this year. Mountain West may be a 1 bid league ???

Re: Week #13 - Games of Interest
Impressive for SDSU. Utah State is pretty good. Utah State led by 8 at half and by 10 early in the second half, and hung in against the Matt Mitchell barrage for a while but eventually SDSU was too much. Utah State probably won’t be punished much in the metrics (before the results of this game hit, they sit two behind URI in KenPom at 47), but if they won this game they may have leapfrogged a bunch of teams into the field - at least temporarily. They don’t have anymore games against SDSU in the regular season (they previously lost to them at home), so not sure they have the opportunity to make up a lot of ground. Unless they steal a bid, might be able to cross them off the list now.
ETA: after updating for this game, Utah State shaved a bit off its AdjEM but remained at 47. SDSU squeaked last Gonzaga into the #4 spot for now by the thinnest of margins.

Re: Week #13 - Games of Interest
UMass can play well at times, but for the most part they stink.
Yes they're young, but you wonder how long a leash their administration will give McCall.
If you have a crappy head coach, doesn't matter how good his assistants are, that will negate them.
Remember Jerry Duh? He had a great staff, but it didn't matter.

The leagues metrics are not overinflated.rambone 78 wrote: ↑4 years ago Yes no BE team is bad.
But are any of them really good? Villanova was the standout for years, but they've come back to the pack a bit.
PC is playing better, but again how much of that is them, or are their opponents not really all that good?
The league's metrics imo are somewhat overinflated.....it's proven it lately when most of them lose in the early rounds in the dance.
I'll bet it happens again this year.
I also think we can play with any of them, at least this season.
The difference is that the BE takes care of business in OOC.
Most teams come into conference with solid metrics and then beat each other up.
I agree on the tournament prospects though as I don’t think anyone besides SHU could make a deep run.

Re: Week #13 - Games of Interest
That’s fair. I’ll add that this season the A10 in general (with a couple of exceptions) did a much better job in both scheduling and beating their OOC opponents than in the past couple of years.rjsuperfly66 wrote: ↑4 years agoThe leagues metrics are not overinflated.rambone 78 wrote: ↑4 years ago Yes no BE team is bad.

Well the BE usually beats up on a boatload of stiffs OOC except for a few games against better teams.
Except for PC this year. Their OOC performance will likely relegate them to the NIT at best.

Define a few? The BE beat the following Top 50 teams (via KenPom: Maryland, Miss St, Kansas, Texas Tech x2, Oklahoma, Purdue x2, Minnesota x2, Stanford, Florida, Cincy, West Virginia, Arizona, and Iowa. That is 1.6 Top 50 wins per team in conference during OOC.rambone 78 wrote: ↑4 years ago Well the BE usually beats up on a boatload of stiffs OOC except for a few games against better teams.

You aren’t going to build up good resumes just pounding on “stiffs” in OOC.

I’d love to draw a BE team not named Seton Hall in the tourney. I’ll take my chances with any of them including Nova who is always skilled but very young this year.

I think KMac put it best. The Big East has a lot of really good teams this year, but no great teams.rjsuperfly66 wrote: ↑4 years agoThe leagues metrics are not overinflated.rambone 78 wrote: ↑4 years ago Yes no BE team is bad.

Not much action on Super Bowl Sunday with only one game in the A-10 - La Salle at Duquesne, 2 PM. On ESPN+.
In a game already underway, Iona is at Manhattan. Game is on ESPN+ and Manhattan has the early lead.
