Poor coaching in the final minute as well. Should’ve fouled with 30 seconds left.

Story of our lives. Game that we should’ve won that we lost. Will be a fun year in the NIT. Can’t wait for Friday. It’ll be a fun experiment of “Fatts vs PC”
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Sucks to lose but was one hell of an effort. So many plays that if we could have one of them back we could have pulled this out. Those have the potential to stay with you, but have to turn the page. Five days to get ready for what is now the first must-win game of the year.

Darn it! Had our chances today...

13 TOs, 66.7% FT shooting, and nobody besides Fatts showed up for most of the game was the difference. Couldn't get over the hump.

Good game although this one stings...

I disagree, subjective decision but I think you need to let that one play out. It is a one point game, and a steal or *gasp* rebound with breakaway layup could still win it.

Really good effort and fun game for the most part by URI. But Cox seemed pissed at the end and rightfully so. The technical at that time. That pass by Martin to Langevine and then to Fatts.

IDK what is going on with my guy Dowtin. High effort and being more vocal will help him find his game. He is too quiet for a guy who has accomplished so much. Play defense like he used to. Try to draw fouls instead of dropping the ball over the defenders in a weird running floater and he will be fine.

They had an awesome shot of winning that one right to the end. OUCH!

Don't even get a shot off to tie the game. Very annoying, still no quality wins. Best believe PC will come in to the Ryan center and play the best they have all year.

Martin killed us throughout. He doesn’t block out, tries to make the impossible pass, and shoots at bad times. Troubling that he can’t make the pass to Fatts at the end. Fatts=Onions

Overall played well but tough to forget the countless unforced errors and mental mistakes....

-Tate Technical
-Martin in last min of game fouled with a min left down by 2 for no reason, took a very quick bad low percentage shot, threw a full court pass that almost ended in a TO or foul, and then threw the ball out of bounds on a perfect play design for tying 3 attempt.
-Harris threw the ball out of bounds on miscommunication with Martin(not sure whose fault that was)
-missed layup after missed layup
-missed free throws
-couldn't box out or make it even close on the glass

Overall they played well and very strong response in 2nd half. Fatts was terrific he needed more help and a few less mistakes

Cox has to be pissed at Martin.

Look out, Walker might be coming for his minutes if this keeps up.

That would have been a HUGE win, and they could have had it.

Proved one thing...they played well enough to win against a good team on the road, but have to cut out dumb mistakes.

We lost to a no doubt Top 5 team, and two legit Top 25 teams that were very big upfront and tough matchups for us with only two legit bigs. Not going to beat those teams with the performances we are getting from Tyrese and Jeff. Unsure if Jeff is sick or if he was benched to send a message. I’m not mad at the latter if thats true bc his play in the first half was bad. IMO the eye test says we are about a Top 50-60ish team right now, can we run the table in OOC and play ourselves in through league play? Remains to be seen.

Harris had a nice “lose your man and give up a basket then throw the ball out of bounds” back to back possessions late in the game.

I would have let them play defense there, try and get a stop. But I certainly would have used that last timeout with about 15 seconds left before Martin had a chance to make stupid pass #1 (which luckily wasn’t a turnover). Try and setup a good play for 3 (which we actually ended up having until Martin mad stupid pass #2).

Good game.. Don't believe in moral victories.. Real disappointed in our sophomore class.. Tate, Harris and Martin. Low basketball iq for all 3 and very soft players.. Cyril has zero help on defensive glass from these 3. That needs to improve fast

Why not? He played a very bad half yet again. Play the freshman that is working his ass off. I thought it was a great coaching move.
Mid way through the 1st half Cox went with a tall line up and I said to myself great move:
Harris
Langevine
Toppin
Martin
Russell

Cox went with that line up for a couple of minutes then he subbed Dowtin in for Martin and we still had Harris, Langevine and Toppin playing down low. I thought it was solid coaching by David Cox. We still got out rebounded 21-15 but it would have been worse without Cox playing big.

At the half Cox went with the same line up that had served him well on the boards:
Harris
Langevine
Toppin
Martin
Russell

I don’t think Cox was benching Dowtin to start the 2nd half due to performance reasons, it was strategic. I think Cox wanted Harris, Langevine, Toppin and Martin hitting the boards both defensively and offensively. Toppin added good value to the big man presence along with Harris and Langevine during the first and second halfs.

Good moves by David Cox.

Fatts has scored 20+ points in 6 straight games. He's averaging 21.1 points per game - and that's with 5 points against Maryland and getting ejected with more than 6 minutes left against Manhattan. (He still managed to score 20.)

Pretty, pretty, pretty good. :D

This was always the most likely way I saw this season going, especially once we found out Walker and Shepard were not going to play from day 1. I think the league is shaping up to be even a little better in the middle than I thought, so take care of business and take a couple from the top tier teams, which we will have ample opportunity to do, and we can get the computer numbers to the right place. The question is going to be wins against tournament caliber teams, but getting 2+ shots at Dayton and VCU should give us chances. Have to win out in OOC to put us in position, though (and then root like hell for WKU and maybe even Providence in their conferences).

Agree on the coaching adjustments made in this game by DC. Good read of the game. Sagged the entire defense in the 2nd half to clog lane and get more bodies near the basket for rebounds. Kids showed a lot of fight. The fate of our season lies in our sophomore class and right now they are maddening with inconsistent play, and bad decision making. Dana's T in that situation was inexcusable, no matter the circumstances. Under no circumstances can Tyrese throw that ball away with Fatts curling for a 3, he had plenty of a window to make a straight line pass there. Killer to not even get a shot off in that situation.

Fatts was unreal the whole game . The rest of the team sat out the first half . The second half Fatts was super human and the rest of the team
decided to play led and pushed by Fatts . In the end they found a way to lose a game they were supposed to lose . Officiating was very one
sided , not a surprise. i am not that upset about losing a game i expected them to lose . They have been very predictable so far . They have won
the games they were expected to win and lost the ones they were expected to lose . I have them winning the remaining OOC games , so I will
be happy if they are able to do so. Any poor games especially at Middle Tennessee or home against Providence and Western Kentucky would be
disastrous for any NCAA hopes . Just continue to win the ones you should win.

If I’m coaching, that pass has to come from Jeff anyways. Not only do I trust him to make the pass, if the play breaks down he’s the only other guy who can create something on the fly. Martin should be in a corner waiting for chaos to result in a wide open look falling into his lap and ready to crash the boards. Hindsight is 20/20 and I thought Cox coached a good game overall, hitting the right buttons to keep us in the game after it looked like it was going away a few different times, but we could have done better there.
