I think that's fair.

31st.....if we had beaten Oregon we would have finished top 25.

As I remember, we ranked 12th in the final poll after we lost to Stanford in the E8.....

Not too much to gripe about. There's no one in the top 25 that lost in the first round.

So Lunardi, to my surprise, has us as an 11 seed in the way too early NCAA bracket for 2017-2018.

I remember a poll that had us 6th after that year.

I think Rhody should be top 25. We lost to a Final Four team on a shot in the last minute. I would put us ahead of Cincy, Florida State and Iowa State. In the others we definitely should be way ahead of USC. Look how far Michigan climbed from a bubble team with a good run in their conference tournament and 1 round more than us in the tournament. I am not saying we belong ahead of them just using them as an example. We had a great winning streak.

I remember us being 11. But 6 seems about right, considering we beat a 1 seed and then got hosed out of beating a #2 to go to the final four. 19 years later and Mobley was still being purposely fouled. To add insult, they called a foul on ARD on the resulting dunk for a 3 point play. If the purposeful hack on Mobley wasn't a foul, then ARD absolutely did not foul on the dunk.

True. I remember thinking at that time that we weren't even the lowest team in the final 8.

People barely look at those after-the-season polls. What's it matter? As for next year, with no additions, I think we max out about where we did this year. Without the 5th year or JC big, I think we'll see a lot of 4 guard lineups, and we'll only go so far with that. I have a feeling we're getting some help up front though, and then watch out!

21377, I hope you're right.....and I agree with you that we will be somewhat limited if we don't get that help.

We need another KI type that can get similar numbers.

Guys, here's a page that lets you see every week Rhody was ranked, in each year in which they were ranked. I had it bookmarked for 1998, and the other years are there. I do think we would have been in top 25 if we beat Oregon, and think we should have been anyway. This is the archive for the AP writers poll only...
