I don't think Langevine is a late bloomer as much as DH has gone out and signed his whole recruiting Class for 2016 in the summer before their Senior year. Not very common for URI Basketball. He may seem like a late bloomer to some of the recruiting services but DH knew what he was getting in all 4 of these guys. Agree this could be our best class. 3 excellent big men and an excellent guard. Also interesting is how Dowtin, Langevine and Tertsea all come from strong, well recognized programs playing against strong competition - and playing prestigiouos Holiday Tournaments.
So here we have 4 players locked in and all 4 are very talented.
Langevine had a strong performance in Florida as I noted earlier. He is playing very well for a strong St Patrick's team that was not in the USA Today Top 25 prior to the Florida Tournament but will likely be in the Top 10 after Florida (losing only to Chino Hills led by the 3 Ball Brothers)

fyi,
St Patrick's will play La Lumiere at the Springfield MA Hoophall Classic on January 17th at 5:45pm for those who want to see Cyril play live. La Lumiere will be a tough test for St Patricks as they have strong big men:
ESPN #56 2016 James Banks 6'11" 230 lbs going to Texas
ESPN #20 2017 Brian Bowen 6'7" 180 lbs
ESPN #23 2017 Jeremiah Tilmon 6'9" 215 lbs

La Lumiere most recent championship game write up from USA today for those who may be thinking of going to Springfield for the St Patrick's La Lumiere game January 17

Obviously, recruiting rankings and reports from high school games need to be taken with a big grain of salt. But I agree that this incoming class seems to have a higher pedigree overall than most of the classes I can remember. There isn't one clear "oh my god he can't miss!" superstar player - when is there ever? - but all four sound like they could be rotation players from the start. At the very worst, they're seemingly guys who will press and challenge the upperclassmen in practice.

Great stat lines out of Langevine.
All these recruits seem like they'll be really solid players.
Next year we should be able to really turn up the heat with the pressure D and have some bodies down low that can compete with most anyone. Real exited to see these four play.

Langevine is one of 39 players listed from NJ - very nice recognition for him!

Tertsea was not one of the 12 from MD, Layssard was not one of the 7 from LA, and Dowtin was not one of the 5 from DC.

Patrick School goes from being unranked in USA Today Top 25 in last December release to go all the way to #6 in today's poll release!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cyril is he best big man performer on the team thus far. Would not be a surprise to see him move into the ESPN Top 100 before year is up.

ramster wrote:Chino beats The Patrick School 66-60 in OT. Very respectable showing by the Patrick School in this prestigious tournament. Chino will now move to #1 in national rankings.
Cyril Langevine had 7-12 FG for 14 points and his 6 rebounds led his team - played 30 minutes. Very solid performances by Cyril in the 3 games. He made an all tournament team that is loaded talent.
Played his way up to 4* ranking imho playing against the best players in country. Note tweets in verbal commits. Great early verbal for DH and staff.

More impressed that Langevine had 14 points and 6 rebounds against Chino Hills after seeing them beat a strong High Point team today in Springfield MA by 100 - 75. Chino Hills was amazing. The 3 Ball brothers out on a show. Lonzo Ball is a senior headed to UCLA. He is rated 11 nationally but there were hints today that he will move up higher when new ESPN Top 100 are released tomorrow about noon.
Ball passes similarly to Jason Kidd only he is a better passer and shooter that Kidd. Very little dribbling done by Chino Hills. Passing is the way they move the ball and they make some amazing passes.never seen a team play quite like Chino Hills.

Check out Cyril's Instagram page. He posts quite a few videos of game action. He is very athletic. He reminds me a little bit of Ullmer with the athleticism. Basketball skills might still be a little raw, but lots of potential with this kid.

And to follow up on the reference to Cyril in the Dowtin thread- he was more of an offensive option when Richards was injured. Richards is a 5 star prospect with pretty much his pick of offers, so he's getting looks that were Langevine's before. He's still developing, but what will help Langevine is the system/coaches he's playing for now and the competition he goes up against in practice.

St. Pat's beat Roselle Catholic in double OT to win the Union County tournament. Langevine had 10 points, 7 boards, and 3 blocks.

Also, St. Anthony won to complete their undefeated regular season. Good day for Hurleys (kind of glad ASU didn't play).

If everything plays out as expected, Patrick School and St. Anthony should meet in the non-public championship game. If it does, I might have to make the trip up to see that one.

As these things tend to go, that was quite the defensive struggle. Unique McLean seemed to be channeling his inner Kobe (24 shot attempts in 23 minutes). Interesting looking at the box score- I count at least 10 guys that URI was involved with to some degree.
