I find it hard to believe its not in his best interest to prove himself in college.

I was reading on reddit some NC State fan comments about how he was getting dominated by walk ons, so maybe he's awful lol.

Now the one clip I've seen of him at OK St looks legit. No way he's not at least better than Tyson...

If he sucks, at least he's big and athletic, if he actualized his talent...program changing stuff. Worth it! Doubt it happens though.

“Program changing stuff”

Hahahahah dude played 16 total minutes at OSU against Oral Roberts, Wofford and Tulsa. Powerhouses!

But yea man, definitely legit from one clip!

That’s basically like saying Mike Layssard should’ve played cus he looked good in warm ups.

You just don’t get it.

What's unreasonable about saying, IF** a 7'1 former 5 star recruit can get his shit together and play like a 5 star for us it wouldn't be program changing?

Seriously. Explain?

The clip I've seen of him shows him being incredibly athletic for his size, so by seeing that, I can acknowldge he is incredibly gifted athletically.

Please explain how that's unreasonable?

What am I not getting here? You can't say a 5 star 7'1 freak athlete could change the program if he starts playing like a 5 star? What the actual fuck is your point?

I was commenting on his athleticism from the clip. So clearly, he's super athletic.

Yes, if he did actualize his talent he would?

IF we had a freak athlete 7'1 guy who started to play like an NBA prospect it would probably be program changing, especially in the A-10 since no one has anyone like that.

So yes, if we had 2 scholarships that we are giving out to bigs, why not give him one of them? Him and a proven guy.

But as I said before, I doubt it will happen, it's worth it to take him on his potential alone because if he started to play like ppl thought he would, then it could be huge for us.

But yeah I guess you can't harmlessly say "hey if that 7'1 dude with NBA athleticism got his act together and played for us it would be awesome!"

Obviously we need a couple of bigs to add to Fuchs at the 5 position (including one of the 2 that can play some 4).

But, this is an important time for the A10, too, because, so far, it has lost more than it has added, I believe.

Interesting weeks coming up for us and the conference.

I'm starting to think the A-10 is not in a bad position regarding the portal. We have many conferences to use as our farm system and a few guys willing to transfer down from power 5 for bigger roles. The conference was on a bit of an uptrend last season from the prior year and I do not see the conference moving down in the conference rankings any time soon if even schools like URI are committed to paying the Nilflation for players. We know Dayton, VCU are willing to spend and I'm thinking St. Louis is giving the new head coach a decent budget. There are so many players in the portal right now we should be able to fill out the roster with some capable players.

Good point, Dean, regarding the A10.

It seems to me, now that you raised that point, that the top 10 NET conferences are set going forward barring any other major changes to cbb in transferring, paying players, realignment, etc.

What I mean by that is, from season to season, we will see movement up or down in conf NET’s by a few spots between the top 10 (like the A10 going from 8 to 9 or 8 to 7. Or, like the Big12 going from 1-3, for example) but those 10 conferences will stay roughly the same.

That said, I don’t rule out one of the lower end of the 10 having a rough stretch to fall out of the top 10 for a season.

Overall, for the long term (beyond 5 yrs, perhaps) I think the 2 conferences in the top 10 most at risk are the A10 and then, the NBE in that order because they do not play FBS football (excluding UConn - which would jump at the chance to join a power football conference).

That is how I see the big picture currently.

So, the portal slams shut May 1? It's like the trading deadline date in name your professional sport, combined with musical chairs.
There needs to be a cool name for it... Maybe, "don't let the door hit ya" Day?

If I understand correctly, the 'outflow' of players stops? From then until the season starts, teams will only gain, but not lose players?

Above says 1,875 in the portal, is that just everyone that has entered? Including those that have since signed somewhere?
If so, anyone have any idea how many portalees have signed?

Jersey, SLU is making a bee line for the top of the conference for next season.

They appear to have the early lead in the horse race but still a long way to go. Archie kept our core and added Lawrence but we need a good big or two now to keep up.

I wonder what this week brings for us ? Good news on the front court ?

Yes Drums, Schertz is making an impact in the portal, also helps with bringing in a couple of ISU stars.

Not so sure that is the case.
After finishing in the bottom tier the last few seasons, bring in the best players you can and have an open competition for rotation minutes.
It isn't as if our team is loaded with stars, although we may not find better than what is already here, with the resources we have left.

Aside from the portal I wouldn't be shocked if they are also looking at some international recruits or even here that are still looking for a home.
