I'd start DJ Johnson in the 2nd half
Leads Rhody in rebounds with 4
A tremendous blocked shot
He doesn't seem intimidated at all. Shooting well and defending well

Want to see more DJ Johnson, Jeremy Sheppard and Malik Martin in the 2nd half

This game is absolutely within reach. Excellent closing out of the 2nd half to give us a chance coming out of halftime.

Seems like way too many fouls being called, on both sides. Not sure what the average number of fouls are for a typical first half, but man... let them play a little.

Things to work on: turnovers, stupid fouls, forcing shots, struggles from the line.
We did show some grit and didn't give up. DJ looks impressive and will get serious playing time. Arizona is quick and beating us to the basket. Overall not a bad half for us, Fatts picking up his 4th really hurts. The refs aren't helping and trying to take over the game, but we should be aware of this and play accordingly.

Halftime thoughts:

Looks like a team that hasn't had a chance to practice or scrimmage. Exactly as you'd expect: sloppy play, turnovers, dumb fouls, missed passes, etc...they'll work that out after a few games.

Scoring looks drastically improved. Shooting especially.

Nervous jitters, getting used to game speed, and aggressive referreeing hampering this game so far.

Sheppard is as advertised. Holy crap can he shoot.

DJ as well, love what you're seeing out of him. Huge block, big shot.

Mitchell twins also as advertised. Little over-excited and over-aggressive - but no dumb fouls away from the hoop. Fouls were at the ball trying to make plays. Most importantly, their IQ is HIGH. Hands in passing lanes. Hands up to alter shot angles. NEVER PUTTING THE BALL ON THE FLOOR UNDER THE HOOP. Both of them - heads up, looking to kick the ball out. They're going to have GREAT careers here.

Fatts needs to be smarter on the defensive end, wish Cox had kept him on the bench with 3 fouls...but then again, you should be able to depend on your senior to not get a ticky-tack foul.

Best thing though - huge balls, as we've come to expect with a post-2012 Rams team - could've packed it in down 16. Back to within 7. Calls should even out. Anyone's game.

As already stated, this Arizona State team is quick.

I guess Fatts won’t have to worry about cramping up tonight now. Four fouls? I’m having flashbacks to Clyde Drexler against NC State.

DJ does look good so far. A presence defensively in the lane, which I did not expect.

Agree ramster, I can already tell after one half our depth will be a vast improvement over last year. Can it withstand Fatts being a bystander for most of the remainder of the game? We shall see if they can stay in it.

All things considered, Only down by 7 at halftime with 17 fouls, 11 turnovers and 3 starters with 3+ fouls against a ranked team with the turnover this team has is a win imo.

I'm not mad at this loss at all. Would of loved the win but lots of upside with this team. Looking forward to see them improve as it all starts to gel.

Lot of positives - free throws and fouls were not among them.

If Fatts stays in I love our chances. Needed our floor general in crunch time.

Refereeing was crap, but fouls were sloppy too. Free throws were awful, but it's early.

This has the potential to be the best shooting/scoring team we've seen since Jimmy Baron wore #20. Mitchell twins look raw, but have very high IQ and a high ceiling. Sheppard is a player. Walker looks to be a piece. DJ will be a key off the bench as well.

Sloppy first half turnovers, Fatts' getting a 4th in the first half was real bad - on both his and Cox's parts.

Either way - this team is going places. We're a handful in the A-10, and when this team gels they can play with anyone in the country.

Onward and upward. Go Rhody.

I guess sometimes you have to see what your personnel can do.

Definitely needed a TO, imo.

Given all of the things URI did wrong, I'm very encouraged that this team is going to get better each game & will be quite the force to be reckon with.
I mean their fouling & foul shooting was pitiful, yet I never thought they were out of this game.
After watching this game, I think URI can be top 2 in the A10 & possibly be in the top 25 at some point this year.

Overall a good effort against a top team. We still need to work on our foul shooting and a little sloppy with the ball at the end without Fatts. This team as we predicted has plenty of depth and I was very impressed with DJ, Antwan, and Jeremy.

Disappointing to lose and not have Fatts on the floor.

Going to be a fun team to watch. Lots of weapons. Hopefully we can have an opportunity to see them in person somewhere/sometime this season.
