Crazy ending in the SMU-UCLA game. SMU throws it away with a 2pt lead with under 30 seconds. A goal tending is called on a 3pt attempt by UCLA with about 10 seconds left to put them up by 1. SMU fails to score. UCLA wins. Even with the win, it doesn't change my opinion. The Bruins didn't deserve to be in the field.

That was as much goaltending as Dez Bryant's catch was not a catch. By the rule I guess both were right but anyone watching knows that the ball was not going in the basket.

That ball was not in the cylinder and was not going to make it there.

Six games completed. Better seeds only advance in three. Two 14 seeds upset a 3 and an 11 beats a 6.

Sorry, the AAC was a fraud conference.

SMU was the best of a very mediocre bunch.

That win doesn't justify UCLA making the Dance.

SMU was way too high a seed. Should have been a 9 or 10 at best.

Ball doesn't have to be going in; it was on the down arc and had a chance to hit the rim.

The double foul in OT of the VCU game was beyond comprehensible. Should have been a foul on Tate and possibly a Flagrant 1.

No chance of going in. Way off to the right. See ATP's image.

But, if you are a SMU player, don't even do that.

I noticed that they're some pretty horribly coached teams. In the ND game in particular, 1.9 left up by 4 and ND is challenging the inbounds and 3. Seriously?? Norte Dame supposedly has smart student athletes, right?

Man, so many games are being decided by questionable [or ridiculous] calls nowadays.

Loved how Dayton fans got on the refs early with the boos. If fans continue what we did against Iona, the NCAA has no choice but to make changes. If a home team has their crowd booing refs at halftime when their team is up double digits rather that cheering their team, they have problems.

The NCAA has a lot of problems, and the quality of the refs is one of them. A big one.

Hard to see how that gets fixed though. Throw $ at it? Most of these guys have other jobs.

Would cost huge dollars to have fully and properly trained refs who are all full time. The BB season only lasts about 5 months.

True, but if all officials were paid the same and overseen by one central clearinghouse there might be some consistency.

I also think that it might be better to go back to two officials instead of three. First, you can eliminate the bottom third of all officials so there are fewer Wally Ruteckis and Bryan Kerseys. Second, they rely on replay for so many things that the replay has become an extra official.

Well I didn't see tie Iowa state or Baylor upsets coming. Big 12 is so overrated as a conference. What a joke.
Call against SMU was bogus. Analysts even thought it was. Ball was an air ball heading behind and to the right of the rim and not above the cylinder or inline with the basket. Crazy ending! UCLA didn't deserve to be in the tournament. What a shame. Poor SMU.
Despite some crazy stuff, bracket is still strong on ESPN.

Some really awful calls in the Georgetown-EWU
game.
A Georgetown player punched an EWU player to the floor.
The refs actually looked at it on the monitors and didn't call a thing!
After that, EWU just collapsed.
The announcers are still talking about the no call.
Such putrid calls all post season.

Saw that too. It was after the whistle while the player twisted his ankle and I thought he was going to help him up, but the asshole runs after the ball. If Lewis gets a Flagrant 1 for attempting a layup and flaying his elbow, what the hell is a clothesline to the chest? Such horse shit officiating.

I'm kind of OK with the goaltending call. In the moment, I thought the ball was going to hit the side of the rim, and once it does that, who knows where the ball kicks out to? I don't like that the refs can seemingly review a bunch of other things though, and not that.

I was thinking F2. Similar strike in the Cincy game and the player got tossed.

A Georgetown player punching an opponent? And getting away with it? Glad to see two traditions being respected -- Georgetown thuggery and referees letting them get away with it.

I wonder what kind of pleasantries Bobby and Holton will have after this game?

Will Doug Gottleib mention their previous connection in the Spring of 2012 in Kingston??? There's some in-game chatter for you.

If Bobby and Holton had anything to do with each other,
it was really short lived.
Holton got busted very soon after the Hurleys landed here.
Buffalo had better value the ball a lot better.
They had some great blown chances after they got it down to three.

Your point? He still f-d over his younger brother by getting arrested and being stupid. Bobby was there long enough to get a feel for what Holton was capable of doing -- good and bad.

Great, so he should hate Billy Baron even more.
Exactly what was the timeline on Holton?
He was an idiot, but I'm sure he didn't intend on getting caught.
What Billy did, was a deliberate act.
So what the hell do you want Bobby to do? Try to punch him?
Swear at him? WTF!

Have watched them a few times and disagree....if you watched their two teams play you would have a hard time guessing the coaches were related, let alone very close brothers. Our styles couldnt be more different.
