Bob Sr. likes to throw unexpected defenses at the opposition, and
if it works, he'll stay with it. If not, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Does anyone have any sort of update on Aaman's status for tonight?

Personally, I'd like to see us feature more zone tonight. I think it would help clog up the middle, give us a better chance at staying out of foul trouble and help us on the boards. I'm sure we will see both, but I hope to see predominantly zone.

Re: Game #10: Providence College - Thur Dec 5 @ 8:00pm ET
Our guys better keep away from cheap fouls. We are hosed if our bigs get in foul trouble limiting their time. Furthermore, PC shoots free throws very well which would compensate for their poor fg shooting.
While much has been made about URI's bad games on opponent's home courts, little mention is given to the fact that this will be the Friars first "true" road game. Rhody has not lost yet at the Ryan Center and PC has not one in a away game. Let's hope that trend continues.
Typically I am always jacked up for this game. I can't say that is the case this year. Rhody's lackluster start to the season has me down. This game also seems to have far less local buzz than normal. Work weeknight doesn't help. Both fanbases seem to have tempered expectations for their teams and minimixed the excitement level.
Hope that the Rams for the first time can play above themselves for one game.

Re: Game #10: Providence College - Thur Dec 5 @ 8:00pm ET
If Biggie can handle Cotton from penetrating, I'd go triangle and two, with Jarelle on Harris, Munford on the foul line, shading towards Fortune, but helping with Cotton. and the two big guys down low, with good box out position to start the game. E.C. will be in shortly. I'm sort of kidding. I'm guessing the team doesn't practice gimmicky defenses all that much, but they can really give an offense fits, mostly because they rarely see a defense like that. That defense is fun as hell to play. The one thing this would do though is while kind of playing a zone, it would make Cotton have to work that much harder, tiring him out as he did against Kentucky. You can take turns throwing Biggie, X and TJ at him. Playing a straight zone is dangerous because Cotton can kill you with his 3 pt. shot. I like triangle and 2 more than box and 1......I know they won't do this, nor should they. I'm just trying to kill time as I await this game.

Biggest game of the year and no HD! Sucks. Seriously had I known I would have gone to the game.....I live 2 miles from the RC.twisted3829 wrote:it's on CBS Sports Network not OSN, 1005 is OSN and CBS Sports Network is not available in HD on many providers
Any idea why CBSsn is HD for Comcast subscribers only? How hard can it be to add it to the lineup....Cox just added a whole bunch of Spanish channels to HD. Seriously, what's the gig?

For some reason, the CBS Sports channel's picture, comes in smaller
on my HD TV than the regular TV.
Maybe it's an optical illusion?
Twitter is alive with PC-URI talk. I think someone hacked
PCFriars' account, because he's saying he's going to root for URI.

Re: Game #10: Providence College - Thur Dec 5 @ 8:00pm ET
i feel our best bet is putting pressure on them, not sitting back in a zone. their bigs are going to give us problems in zone or man. our biggest strength relative to them is our backcourt and its depth. we should be rotating guys on Bryce and put maximum pressure on him for all 40 minutes. IMO only chance we have. if you are worried about their bigs it is much harder to rebound effectively in a zone defense vs man to man. i just think if we sit back they will pick us to pieces and Cotton will get to dictate the game. even tho he is their best player, he also is not 100% and has zero backup at his position. if they have a weakness vis a vis URI that is it. exploit it or lose.

If Biruta and Oneykaba get into early foul trouble, we may be
forced to play a zone.
You could do a box in one zone with a chaser on Cotton.
Put every guard we have on him, one at a time and wear him out.

On another note - I'm at Chophouse. Hearing that Aaman could see the floor tonight. Would be a nice thing if he could give us a few minutes.

I got here at the student line at 6:20 for 6:30 doors open. There were hundreds of students in line, probably over a thousand by 7. Line is painfully slow. I'm just hoping to be in by game time...
