If we were to play Stanford here, I'd like our chances.

Out there, not so much.

I know, we still have to win tomorrow night. Not a lock by any means.

Per the Stanford women's hoops schedule, the first and second round dates for the women's NCAA Tournament are Friday 03-20-15 through Monday 03-23-15. Typically, each region would play games on two different dates in this range but the court would have to be available for practice every day. Stanford, as a high NCAA seed, will host these rounds at Maples Pavilion. These dates are the same dates for the 2nd round of the NIT. If Stanford beats UC-Davis and advances, it will have scheduling difficulties at Maples. It may have to look for an alternate site or play at a worse seed.

Well, the NIT has put teams going to the lower seed's place,
if their home arena is unavailable.
I'd love to see that happen.

Spring break for the Cardinal at Narragansett Town Beach. I think that is where Lois Griffin brought Meg for her break.

I also think Arizona St./Vanderbilt drew the short straw. URI is essentially in the western bracket. The 4) St. Mary's hosts the 5) Vanderbilt. In the "Richmond Quadrant," the 4) UCONN hosts the 5) Arizona St. The only reasoning I can think of is that Arizona St. has a common opponent in the "Colorado St. Quadrant" in Stanford and Vanderbilt has a common opponent in the "Richmond Quadrant" in Alabama, but they would only meet in a potential quarterfinal matchup. Geographically though, it basically forces other teams to play out of the other side of the country. At least URI gets at least one home game.

What logic could there possibly be to "experiment" in a post season "reward" tournament. This is not the time to experiment with rule changes. This is the culmination of the season, the rules for the season should be the rules for the tournament.

Oh, I forgot, logic is not a prerequisite for the NCAA.
I agree 100% - use the preseason for this.

Not to mention Alabama's coach getting fired.
The NIT guy said they didn't know Alabama fired
their coach until after they told them they
got selected.

The ncaa committee needs glasses to improve their "eye tests."
The NIT committee needs hearing aids so they can hear what's happening at schools.

not worried about Iona. Held a better offense in Davidson to 19pts below their average and 3-19 from 3.

Just gotta bring the defense and smother Iona. They dont play defense.

I would think that Stanford will do all possible to play at home
Stanford is on a Quarter System and next week is their Final Exams so next weekend will be end of their Quarter - will be very quiet

I would not count out Cal Davis. This is a strong team and 7th seed can be misleading. They will relish this opportunity to play Stanford.
Cal Davis dominated their conference at 14-2 and 25-6 losing unfortunately to Hawaii who was 8-8 in conference

But Stanford was bad losing 8 of their last 12 games in conference including 4 of their last 5. Their confidence is low and they are ripe for a defeat to Cal Davis.

Myself I don't mind URI going out to Stanford. URI is on Spring Break. Great opportunity for these hard working URI players to fly to San Francisco and maybe stay an extra day or two since school is out.
I would love to go on a trip like this as a college basketball player - great to see a city that most have probably never visited and experience a different culture than most have grown up with here in the Northeast or Midwest.

Have to beat good teams to get to the finals anyway so why not put a butt whoopin on Stanford on their home court.

The most infuriating non call I've ever seen. Nevermind the trip itself, it was also a clear path foul.

The VT game that run was the most impressive win of the Baron Era to me.

Add to the list the 16pt 2nd half comeback against Seton Hall when Dawan Robinson went off and drilled a 3 at the end from the top of the key.

We lost that semi to UNC, not because of that call, but because we shot 2-6 from the FT line the last 2 minutes.

Even if they had called the foul, would Ulmer have made at least one of those foul shots?

We had that game won. Then we would have had Dayton in the final, and at that time we owned them.

Of course, if we had won that NIT, JB might be still around.

What a horrible thought!

In that game? absolutely.

He was on fire. Finished the game 8-12 from the field and 2-2 at the line for 18 and 10. He was in such a zone in those 2 games (UNC and VT), he was more likely to hit both than miss both. A second OT was a lock.

although, i agree the butterfly effect if we had won that NIT title could be scary

I was at the game. Was brutal train ride home. Akeem Richmond really hurt us in that game. Atmosphere that night in there was amazing.

But the year rhody lost to psu in the NIT. Baron Jrs sr yr. They came so close to hosting gmu in round 2. Mason had PSU beat and psu hit a miracle buzzer beater to advance after trailing all game. Then ended up going on to win the whole thing. Had URI not played @psu I think they would of made a deep run that yr in the NIT. They had beat psu earlier in the yr, but psu's crowd that game was as great as I have ever seen it. They also were on fire.

What a great teammate! CBI isn't worth his time, so he's not playing.
His coach and teammates back him.
Must be the Colorado contact high, working there.

I would think it means automatically coming here. Illinois traveled to bama instead of a more local venue. The longer we wait to hear, the better our odds for hosting.

If we're lucky maybe this game is Monday and the students are back.
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.
