Yes, looks like it. I believe it's something like 2 hours per week of skills work in addition to strength and conditioning.

Seems to be. Not in a uniform like the others though, so must just be helping out. Love that Hurley is keeping him close to the program.

Munford is probably also still working out toward a pro career. While I don't think he's an NBA prospect, I imagine he can make some money somewhere in Europe for a couple of years.

Playing around with the roster. If Onyekaba gets his extra year and Hare redshirts (neither is set in stone but possible outcomes), circumstances have made it very sophomore heavy, but it's way too early for that to be a concern.

Biruta
Buchanan
(open)

Minnis
Reischel
Watson

Hare*
Onyekaba*

Butler
Martin
Matthews

Garrett
Terrell

*listed officially as juniors

Thats where schools get in trouble, with too big a class and
the need to replace that class.
St. Louis has SEVEN incoming freshmen.
We see getting two or three quality players is not easy.
Imagine five or seven?
I don't know Oneykaba's situation, but I'll bet Hare can use
last year as a redshirt season.

Yeah, it can be a problem. It wasn't one class, but that was kind of the situation here for 12-13. Eight (8!) guys had to be brought in by a new staff, with only two (Hare and Aaman) with longer standing recruiting relationships.

If we can get two good recruits every year, I'm happy, like we have the last two years. That gives you a solid 8 man rotation with a couple of role players. Of course, that means the freshmen have to contribute and be part of the rotation off the bat. Let's just say, if we keep getting the quality of guys we have the past two recruiting classes, we should be in great shape.

They may be bringing in seven freshmen, but how many will get "laid off" after one year? I'll bet at least three don't come back for a second year.

We saw that with the hilariously self-titled "Fab Five" that Baron had late in his career here. Holton was the best of the bunch, and only TJ is still on our roster. Granted, there were a lot of extenuating circumstances with why those players departed, but agree with RIR that a couple of them probably won't last after the first year.

Because of the APR situation, it makes having players leave, a big problem.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere. Interesting little preview of the A-10 for next year. They pick URI at 6th in the conference, complete with a pretty generic write-up on the team. But they also pick Hurley as the A-10 Coach of the Year.

I don't expect to get 6 teams into the tourney again next season but Dayton finished 6th last year in the conference with a 10-6 mark and 23-10 overall. And we all know what they did in the tourney. I think we'd all be happy with those results :)

And just to keep them humble, an A10 article that doesn't even mention Rhode Island (or a lot of the other teams). It also has Bembry listed as a junior. See, we knew that award should have been all EC's.

I was driving my son around campus today (also to let him play at the playground of his new preschool on campus - URI's Child Development Center), and the special olympics looked like it was quite the event.

We spotted some fireworks specialists preparing for a show. They were taking over the western most edge (newest expansion) of the Ryan Center Flagg Rd lot (now that Flagg Rd continues and curves around the entire parking area.

I can't wait to see this lineup at some point: Matthews, Garrett, Terrell, Hare, Martin.
All frosh and sophomores.

Not getting psyched on unguarded alley-oops, but lots of
stuff to get excited about.
I like Hassan working on his ball handling and shot.
Watson is a defensive end disguised as a basketball player.
