Now that the cupcake part of the schedule is over, how many wins do we expect moving forward? People have pointed out we are only 1 win away from last years total...but we have played the definition of the sisters of the poor, except for 4 games (all losses). I think we will win between 4-6 in the A10 and 5 -7 more in total.

"5-7 more" wins - pretty disappointing.

I am done predicting anything anymore. I plan to watch the games and hope for the best without expectations. all they need is a win or two against some of the good teams coming up to begin to turn their season around. Hope we see that.

Wow. This group of players is taking a beating on this board after twelve games. Right now i think they are doing a good job overall on defense. And that is where most good coaches start to build a team. Offensively, the team has generally moved the ball well on offense and gotten good shots. I believe soon those missed layups and tap ins will start to fall as the players become more comfortable with each other. I am hoping that they can find their way to beat a good team by focusing for a full 40 minutes and have things go their way. The only thing irritating me right now is the careless turnovers. Obviously the way they have been shooting they have to be more efficient with the ball. I would love to see them play with some confidence against Southern Miss and get them back on their heals early. Then maybe we can see the kind of team we expected to see. Biggie is beginning to look good, likewise Biruta. Munford will come around. Onyekaba has picked up too many silly early fouls. He will learn. when they get rolling, Mathews will start hitting again. I still have hope for the middle to the end of this season.

luke, agree with a lot of what you said, but we need Aaman back, to provide depth to the front line. It's critical.

I mean, if just one of our frontcourt players gets in foul trouble in a game, that takes away almost all Dan's options. He then has to play 3, or even 4 guards at a time. That's going to hurt against the bigger teams on our schedule.

We may get a little better, but so will the other teams.

Why not play 3 or 4 guard lineups - that those are the best players in the team right now right? Let's see biggie, EC, TJ an X out there with Gil.

Those are the four players I trust most.

We need Hassan out there too. He needs to play to develop. What have we got to lose right now?

Throw him into the fire.

Last 3 games Martin has taken the team lead in Blocked Shots with 17 - 12 of those coming in just the last 3 games:
UNH 5 blocks, 5 rebounds and 1 foul in 18 minutes
Detroit 3 blocks, 8 rebounds and 3 fouls in 22 minutes
PC 4 blocks, 5 rebounds and 3 fouls in 26 minutes
Many of Hossy's blocks have been spectacular, hard, physical blocks.
He stays out of foul trouble in spite of the blocked shots demonstrating excellent timing

Last game saw many of our guys in foul trouble:
Iffy with 4 in 16 minutes!!
Biruta with 4 in 25 minutes
X with 4 in 26 minutes
Jarelle with 5 in 11 minutes!!!!!!
Biggie with 3 in 31 minutes
EC with 3 in 33 minutes

Two of our better defensive players did not get into foul trouble:
TJ with 1 foul in 22 minutes
Hossy with 1 foul in 18 minutes

Watching our guys Sunday against UNH we are still often keeping our hands on the opposing player as he dribbles the ball. Noticed this frequently when UNH got the ball in the paint. Refs could have called even more fouls than they did. I don't like it when the defensive guy puts his hands on my waist or arms - good for the refs to call those.

I would agree that Hossy should get more Playing time, personally I would start him.

Rod,
I didn't say horsey as in horse. It is Hossy or Hassy or you could say Hasse..............I am not sure how he spells it but I know how all the guys say it..............do you know the correct spelling? I thought it was Hossy.

I had an o instead of an a. Either way it's meant to sound the same - players and friends all call him hassy with the has pronounced has as in hos or hostile..........hassy or has as in hassan

Yeah, rambone , Aaman sure would help. It would help almost as much if O can stay out of foul trouble.
