Roady Jay you are now my hero. What we need is a second "roady jay" holding signs and yelling during free throws etc. Can't imagine their board if that would happen. I would volunteer, after all I fit the wierd, overweight, bald guy requirement, but, unfortunately live in Florida. Any other volunteers???3wisemen wrote:RoadyJay, you're famous.
Via the UMass message board:
'Also if you have never been to a game at URI they have this weird creepy overweight bald guy that sits front row on the end line near the umass bench. He holds up these signs it seems took days to produce mocking or making fun of the other team. Probably in his 50s and taunts the Mullins Milita on multiple occasions I have been there. Just Something is off with him. (However if he does have any actual disabilities of anykind I apologize for disliking this one fan)'
'^+1000000000. Cannot stand that guy. Came to the Mullins Center a few years ago and would yell during UMass free throws. Also started jawing at us in the student section.'

I am a new poster to the board. Have read it for a few years.
Rhody grad living in Springfield area. This is the biggest game of the year for me.
I am getting amped up already. Leaving early tomorrow for dinner near campus.
Article today in Springfield paper today about what UMass needs to do to have a chance for NCAA tournament - "win two out of next three on the road vs URI, VCU and GW." Good luck with that.
Hoping the ride back tomorrow night isn't like Saturday's 3+ hour ride.

For those in the Philly, South Jersey area, Comcast Network is picking up the SNY broadcast of the UMASS game. So, between SNY and Comcast, most in NJ will be able to watch. Comcast has picked up several of the SNY broadcasts this season of URI and other A10 teams. It has been a pleasant surprise.

It would be a way to draw students. The year Dick Vitale camped URI-St. Joe's, most stuedents were excited mainly about seeing him. Read that Dickie V. is off the Duke-UNC game. Beginning of fade out.

If the students can assure it doesnt sound like a funeral until the last 5 minutes that would be great.
Anything chanted in unison works, dont need to make it too difficult. I wish our students could learn the fight song, that sung by a large group of drunkards could be great.
My only request, I hate the "You Cant do that" chant - it was witty years ago now it just sounds lame.

How about some form of a Yankee bleacher creatures role call for the starting 5 and coach Hurley at the beginning of games ?.. Might be stupid but it will be a way to stay loud for a few mins after the game started and show some support.. Could start a new tradition..

One thing that gets me nervous is that Lalane was awful last game, Esho was in foul trouble and barely played second half and we still lost. Gonna have to contain them and hold them under 30 points. Gil seemed healthier last game, let's hope he can stay outta foul trouble.

Again, Gil played 19 minutes and Martin played 23.
We made Esho look like Kevin Durant. That won't happen again.
Coleman isn't going to go off on us, either.
Just don't foul 50 feet from the basket and we'll be fine.

Appears to be low inventory in the 200 level. Upper level has some work to do, and you can't really get a good read on it anyways from the Ryan ticket website because when they show available seats they aren't necessarily showing everything. Sometimes they hold tickets back until demand warrants they release themObadiah wrote:How are ticket sales for this game??

It appears they're doing that for the 200 level seats too. For instance, yesterday there were 32 seats available in section 203. Today, there are 50. In 208 yesterday, there were 38. Today, there are 49. And I know I'm obsessing about this. I'm just trying to figure out what they're doing and why they're doing it.TruePoint wrote:Appears to be low inventory in the 200 level. Re: Game #24: Massachusetts - Wednesday @ 7pm
I think they are doing it wherever they have excess inventory. Most sections in the 200s are nearly all sold out, but where there are a lot of unsold seats they'll release them in groups like they do the others. 203 and 208 aren't exactly the most in-demand parts of the building. I'm sure there is a rationale behind it.Billyboy78 wrote:It appears they're doing that for the 200 level seats too. For instance, yesterday there were 32 seats available in section 203. I look at her husband and think 'damn I had a chance'. Honestly though, Datt doesn't do it for me. Probably my Boston bias here but Jamie Erdahl and Jenny Dell are way hotter. Dell is no doubt the worst sideline reporter in terms of delivery ever. Don't think she has ever delivered a report without fumbling her words... must be that UMass education.
Molly McGrath also deserves some love from her days as a Celtics sideline reporter.

But if everybody there likes it and gets them riled up then I'm all for it.
