It seems that TJ has become an invaluable mentor to Jarvis.
That's just what he [Jarvis] needs to feel more comfortable.

Just got back from Doherty's. Nice crowd. Good food.
Really couldn't hear the show too well, but got to talk
to Dan,and Chris Disano afterwards.
TJ is such a nice guy. Represents the school and the program so well.
Kinda of a Preston type personality.
Plenty of legends in the crowd. Godfather Bob Terino, Frank Caruso,
Milan, Dave Talan, among others.
Thorr and Daryl Jasper from the Athletic Dept.
Don Kaull and his very nice wife.
Steve McDonald using the Ramette's pom pom and Dan taking a picture
of him.
Andrea Hurley is hilarious, and her kids are so well mannered.
All in all a good time.

Great news, Rod. I know many were hoping for a good turnout of fans from central and northern parts of the state.

Are there any of these scheduled in southeastern RI, maybe Newport?

Is Dougherty's a corporate sponsor of the team? if not, it would be great for that to happen. Jack is a great guy and is really building a restaurant empire in RI and Mass.

The way Daryl Jasper explained it to me,
this tour of The Hurley Show around the state, is
made in conjunction with Miller Lite.
I've never been to Doherty's but I enjoyed it.
Seemed to be doing a good deal of business last night, besides
the show.
I miss what was there previously, too, Bugaboo Creek.
Never got why they closed, because it was always packed.

There was a Bugaboo Creek in Seekonk too. They also closed and I don't know why. Not Your Average Joe's is there now.rodfromcranston wrote:The way Daryl Jasper explained it to me,

The chain is struggling. (Obviously, since they're closing, I know.) There has been a bit of a shift away from the "gimmick" places like Bugaboo Creek. I went there a couple times as a teenager and liked it, but I hadn't been in the ensuing 12 years, so I'm not sure how popular it was toward the end.Billyboy78 wrote:There was a Bugaboo Creek in Seekonk too. Re: The coach's show at Doherty's, it does make sense to me to have the coach's show travel around the state, and it would shock me if they didn't have one in Newport at some point. It strikes me as an easy goodwill thing to move the location around, and they're usually on Mondays or Tuesdays, which are lower business nights, so I imagine it's seen as a positive for the restaurant hosting it too.

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show TONIGHT@7 Dohertys Ale House War
I've always liked the Mews shows, but the place is small and probably wouldn't be able to handle the larger crowds that would come, once we really start winning.
Still, having the show there is great for someone like me, who has to travel a ways to get there.
It would be nice if they could have a show or two in the Westerly area, but how many would show up for it?
Hey, maybe have one at Taylor's place? Ha ha.

Well for those of us in the Greater Providence area,
this was great.
Daryl was telling Dan that this was a home game for me.
Dan said maybe they could have one from his basement.
He likes the idea of moving it around to get the brand out there,
and meet different alums and fans.
A single location, no matter how nice, may get stale after a couple
of years.

LOL!
I live and work in South County, and I like to go to the gym after work. So, I usually go to the Coach's Show at the Mews right after. It definitely makes sense for the show to travel around the state.
The one thing about the Mews is that they have the show in the Tavern part. The upstairs bar, the Celtic Pub is the perfect space, but it is closed on Monday nights when they usually have the show.
I had heard there will be a show at Wright's Chicken Farm. I've actually never been there in my entire life.
How about a stop at Bon Vue, you could always order food from Fat Jacks.

I was hoping for one in the northern part of the state, and I figured with their partnership with Chelo's that the ones in Woonsocket or Smithfield would be natural choices. Nice to hear they're planning on one for Wright's, I'll have to clear my calendar when they announce that one.

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show TONIGHT 7pm @ Snookers Providenc
The deal was with Miller Lite, not the individual venues.
Daryl said it was Dan's idea. Dan said it was Daryl's idea
to move the show around the state, to get new faces and get
the program out there for fans in different parts
of the state.
One will be at Wright Farm (which is a sponsor) and several other places.

Fun night tonight at Snookers... I was a bit skeptical at the traveling Dan Hurley Show, but it's been fun to check out different venues across the state.

Any discussion about possible changes in the starting line up by A10 Conference Play?
Anything mentioned on our 2 recruits for next year performance this year so far?
I'll be at the next one.

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show every Monday @ 7pm
Ramster, Don did ask Dan about free throws. Dan agreed it is mental, saying the kids need to learn to relax at the line. He also said the players are required to make a certain amount in a row before they leave practice. He didn't specify how many. I'm guessing it's different for each player. I doubt they tell EC that he has to make 5 in a row and then do the same with Iffy. I like what Dan had to say about Garrett and how the pace changes when Jarvis is in the game. He said if you think Jarvis was good in the game Saturday, you should have seen him in practice today. I think the word he used was "blistering". Dan also talked about the culture change since he's arrived. He referred to the current players as " not complicated". I thought that was kind of funny, kind of a nice way to put it in reference to the situations of some of the players who are no longer here.ramster wrote:Did the subject of Free Throws come up?RoadyJay wrote:Fun night tonight at Snookers... I'm thinking the guys are nervous too because they are all trying to earn playing time before the A10 Conference Play starts up. Surprising Biruta looks nervous at the line despite being a senior and virtually guaranteed to be a starter. Reischel also looks to be nervous.
Good to hear Dan talk about Garrett in that fashion. Interesting words "blistering" says a lot. "Not complicated" also says a lot.
Should be a very exciting and interesting Atlantic 10 Season. Not a lot of drama, talented athletes, guys who get along, guys who want to win...................wouldn't it be something it we end up battling for the Top Spot in the Conference? We could be better than VCU, better than Dayton, better than UMASS, better than Davidson (did I just say that)................would not surprise me if we were in 1st place in the A10 come mid February - how long has it been since I could legitimately say that? Since Jim Harrick was the HC is when.

Sounds good. Hope we have enough of the type of players to keep up with him.
Terrell, EC and Hassan would all benefit. Gil too I would think. JR plays his best at a faster pace.
Not sure about Watson. Iffy? No.

Not to be confused with PJ's Pub on Boon Street in Narragansett.
PJ's in Gansett has been around much longer, and is not even associated with the other two PJ's. If you're looking for a place with great pizza and some great Greek options I highly recommend it if you're down here. It's also run by a Rhody fan, so it's a win-win.
