Re: Understanding the NIL
When the next wave of lawsuits is over and the TV money starts to flow the way it should (the money that is actually derived from random stuff like...names, images, and likenesses), will there still be collectives?
ETA: will there be a need for collectives?

I have been wondering the same, they seem like a temp solution or loophole that needs to be closed or regulated.NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑1 month ago When the next wave of lawsuits is over and the TV money starts to flow the way it should (the money that is actually derived from random stuff like...names, images, and likenesses), will there still be collectives?

Re: Understanding the NIL
I would guess they don’t go away but are merely a cherry on top for the dollars being shared with players. They become less relied upon to carry the load but I’m sure especially at big schools they will continue to exist. Just not the sole revenue source as they are now. That model is unsustainable.RIFan wrote: ↑1 month agoI have been wondering the same, they seem like a temp solution or loophole that needs to be closed or regulated.NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑1 month ago When the next wave of lawsuits is over and the TV money starts to flow the way it should (the money that is actually derived from random stuff like...names, images, and likenesses), will there still be collectives?

No Rhode to Excellence store, no emails updating with transfers we have gotten "Thanks to your contributions to the collective, we have secured ______ from _____ school" no upcoming events announced, no nothing.
Simply just give us your money, we're not telling you if it's going to men's, women's, or both.

On April 1st I was told the store would be open within 2 weeks...so that hasn't happened. The other stuff I know takes time and it's basically like a new collective.

Re: Understanding the NIL
Not sure if anyone posted this prior but espn reported (I think it was yesterday) that UAB was the first D1 FB program to join the college players association union.
Trent Dilfer is the HC there and, evidently, is in favor of the move. Not surprising considering he played in the NFL and was a member of the players union so is familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of a players union.
I wonder which D1 program is next and how soon ?

LTR, here’s is my unsolicited recommendation….LoveThoseRams wrote: ↑1 month ago How do I block someone on KB? Man this guy above is mentally ill, and No Rhody Rehab will not help.
ECR is like the KB DJ. Don’t block him; make requests.
I enjoy the classics (rock, Mo-town, Philly sound, UK bands) from the 60’s, 70’s (no disco or heavy metal ECR!) and 80’s the most.
Good one’s so far today - Pink Floyd and Dire Straits.
ETA: To stay on topic and relate this all to basketball, hopefully our PG’s can keep up the tempo, we need the 2’s/wings to have the freedom on O to be creative with the guitar rif’s and someone to add to Fuchs for more bass.

Jeff Goodman
@GoodmanHoops
I miss the days when a terrific recruiter was so valuable in college sports.
Now it doesn't really matter. You can be a terrific recruiter, but if you don't have any NIL, you aren't getting players.
And you can be a shitty recruiter, but if you have NIL you'll still be able to get guys.

I can't tell if Goodman is being intentionally naive there or if he really actually believes its that simple. Money has always played a huge part in recruiting success. That's nothing new.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑1 month ago Jeff Goodman

I do see he walked it back a little in a follow up tweet, so I'll give him some credit there.

Just when we get the money to pay a HC $2 million a year and Assistants $800k combined we now hear in todays world you can be a lousy recruiter and get guys.
Hire Rambone as HC and give him $2.5 milllion for NIL per year and he can round out his Coaching Staff with KB members of his choice with $300k and we are even

same with the practice facility? coulda waited a year and NILled that cache? Although, looks like if you wait another lawsuit or two, the players will get the cash they should be getting, without the gen pop shakedown anyway?

They all say the same thing. Lots of heavy drinking, push the rock, trust the process, etc., etc., etc. The ring leader is Don Keedick. That can't be his real name unless his parents had a really warped sense of humor.Rhody15 wrote: ↑4 weeks agoIt’s gotta be right?
