Re: '19 CT SF Tyler Burton (Offer)
Good to see a Mass Rivals kid with Rhody on his list.

URI already has a SF in this class. Don't see them taking 2.

Next year’s projected rosterDC_Rams wrote:They may have him play the 2/3. Love big guards.
Thompson
Dowtin
Fatts
Silverio
Martin
Tate
Long
Bishop
That is 8 players for three positions. Even if you push Tate to the four and Thompson leaves that is 7 players.
I don’t think they are adding Burton to that.

Stop adding Bishop. He’s not committed.
Burton may be the backup to Bishop if we don’t land him.

Re: '19 CT SF Tyler Burton (Offer)
I watched some film of Burton and he seems very underrated. He will be one of those guys that signs with a Siena and we see him averageing 15-17 points a game down the road. We have many options at his position already, but like him much better than Ray Somerville.Rhody83 wrote:Tyler Burton official visit to Kingston Oct 19th. Also visiting Richmond, Siena & Qinnipiac.

Burton is a 6-5 wing; Sommerville a 6-9 C.
An October visit says it all.

Re: '19 CT SF Tyler Burton (Offer)
I have seen Burton play three times live in July and a few more times on Baller TV.
He is very athletic. He can really jump. He doesn’t have much offensive skill. His best move is slashing to the hoop.
At the A10 level I think in his Jr & Sr years he would be similar to TJ (but can get up higher).
I agree with Iggy on the Oct visit. Burton is the back up if Bishop doesn’t commit.

Re: '19 CT SF Tyler Burton (Offer)
I get the position difference which I pointed out and we obviously need a big man much more than Burton’s position, but in the end I want the best players. Burton must be the closest thing we have to a backup if Bishop falls through. I guess the bottom line is I would prefer to leave the scholarship open if we get Bishop and miss on Walker, McLeod and Diawara. I don’t want Ray Somerville. He looks to be another big man sitting on the bench.Iggy1979 wrote:Burton is a 6-5 wing; Sommerville a 6-9 C.

I agree with your comments on Burton and Bishop. I think Long is very similar in that his offensive game is pretty limited. He looks to be a fantastic defensive player, but not sold on him at the offensive end. He looks much better beside a Bishop/ and or Walker/McLeod/Diawara.Rhody83 wrote:I have seen Burton play three times live in July and a few more times on Baller TV.

Took an official to Richmond last weekend. St. Bonaventure also in his final 6.

Wonder if he’ll ever actually play for Mooney? That guy has to be on the hot seat.

I agree, I looked at Mooney’s wiki page and can’t believe it’s been seven years since Richmond’s sweet 16 run. Zero tournament bids since.

IMHO, one of the better coaches in the A10

I know we should be looking forward and not back, but Burton would have been good for us over the past few years.
Cox dropped the ball on this guy. His father was sitting near us the last Richmond game at the Ryan. We said why didn’t Tyler come to URI? Father said, “you have to ask Cox that question” and shook his head.

Would’ve been the second best player under Cox, with Dowtin being first.LoveThoseRams wrote: ↑1 year ago I know we should be looking forward and not back, but Burton would have been good for us over the past few years.

Re: '19 CT SF Tyler Burton (Richmond Commit)
Not saying Mooney is some coaching prodigy but do we really think Burton would have become the Burton we knew the last couple of years had Cox been his coach with Cox's track record of player "development"?
