THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
The opening line for this one is URI - 8 which again I suspect is too high.
URI did not come close to covering in either of its past two games. I will
be surprised if that changes on Saturday. This is no guaranteed win either.

I think it is a guaranteed win...time for a good ol-fashioned butt kick.
Go ahead, load up and give the 8.
This one is juicy, Luke

NYGfan , I know you are the eternal optimist as I generally am as well,
but clearly not to the extent that you are. I wish I could say that this game is a guaranteed win,
but as much as I would like it to be, with this group it isn't. They have already proved to me
that no game is a given. They were a 12 point favorite against LASALLE and lost by 12, so no
I don't think it is a given. I think they will win, but I am far from certain that they will.

"Eternal" is a strong word...I have been NOWHERE NEAR the optimist this year that I was last year...but am feelin' good about this one.

Re: THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
If we play like we did our first three a10 games I think we'll win by 20+, if we play like we have the past two games we could see an upset...

Duquesne is a +200 RPI team. If we are worried about this team then we have bigger problems than I thought.

Re: THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
And poof! A loss...and there's no more talk about an at large......and thoughts of winning the auto bid should too....
But right now, I'm holding out hope that if changes are continued to be made like they were in the UMass game, and some of our players find a little more consistency, then maybe just maybe we've got a shot at this.....a fragile hope imo but still hope.
How's that folks?
Oh, and we need to win at Richmond...a must. A winning streak of decent length is required.

Re: THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
Good to see some optimism on the board. And note that I didn't say URI would lose,
as I said, i think they will win, but I am far from certain they will win. So, Blueram
I am definitely worried about this game and all road games remaining.

The line has now moved up to URI - 8 1/2 to - 9. Vegas has confidence in the Rams.

Re: THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
Sometimes I feel like I'm watching a different team than most on this board. I'm not sure how anyone who's watched this team play could have the confidence in this team to have an easy victory against anyone, nevermind being on the road. We will again have the better players on the floor but that does not always turn into wins. We have 1 road win vs a woeful St Louis team playing without their top player, I expect another close game that will be decided in the final minutes. Hope I'm wrong and we start playing like we were projected to with a veteran team.

Re: THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
I agree with you Shinz,
Realtime RPI live has URI favored by 10.1 points with an 82% probability to win, so that means roughly we lose this game to Duquesne once every 5 times......far from an autumatic win and where "we should demolish them or it's a big disappointment." Plus we have our starting PG for the past 3 years out, an adjustment for everyone.
I'll settle for a win, period, even if one point or in OT
Games today can be decided on which team is hottest on threes. Richmond went ice cold on 3's vs Dayton, missed 9 straight at one point.
Duquesne is young but could be playing with nothing to lose at home today. Road games are tough to win, I hope we win today heading into the big Richmond game next Wednesday at Richmond.

Re: THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
I agree 88....even when we win most of the time there's something that makes you go hmmm.....
We keep waiting for them to develop some consistency......it has to start now or it's wait till next year again.
We have to go 11-2 or better to be an at large team.....that's going to require big improvement in a lot of areas...a lot to ask.
ramster, today's game could come down to us making our FT's at the end....how confident are you about that?
We were good at FT's this year...until about 4 games ago...since then we have been putrid to say the least.

Re: THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
Rambone,
We are #1 in 3FGs percentage in the A10 and we are #14 dead last in A10 play in FTs percentage so I'm not too confident if today's game comes down to FT shooting. Of course the optimistic me says there's no place to go but up

Re: THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
I also agree with many of the above comments. I certainly gave up to hopes that we will blow anyone out. If it happens great, but I can't expect that at all. Especially in a road league game. I , too, am just hopeful for a win, to do enough for a win and hope that this team can at least begin to play better and move toward the type of play that we had all hoped for at the start of the season.

Re: THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
I noticed that Vegas does not list Jarvis Garrett as out for this game. Is that an oversight or
is he actually available to play today ? There is no one for either team listed as out.

Re: THE EARLY LINE URI VS Duquesne
From what I've seen of Jarvis (hockey player toughness)...thinking that means he'll be a 'go'....hate to say I'm ambivalent about that...rhodysurf wrote:Hurley was quoted saying he is questionable, but most likely outluke wrote:I noticed that Vegas does not list Jarvis Garrett as out for this game.
