Foumena and Estevez will be thriving somewhere else while Archie’s forcing the same tactics, that don’t work :)

Bad refs aren't our problem.

Its ridiculously bad defense and coach playing guys who have proven they suck and leaving guys like Fou on the bench at critical times in the game.

We need SOME defense? We dont play ANY!

This is the worst defense I have ever seen Rhody play in 50 plus years following this program.

We've had teams with less talent play better defense then this.

But some here refuse to put any blame on the staff. They picked these players and can't for the life of them teach a shred of defense.

Archie a defensive coach?

Could have fooled me.

It's going to take more than one or two more talented players to turn this suck fest around.

We make mediocre shooting teams look like a bunch of Steph Currys out there.

Disgusting.

Rory, see ya.

Dubsky, see ya.

Always, see ya.

Brown, see ya.

Don’t want to see Weston leave, he gives us random spurts. Could do way worse as a depth piece.

I said it earlier in season somehow we followed a season with the worst offensive team I can remember (last year) with the worst defensive team I can remember.

Do not understand what he is seeing in Always. He’s 4 v 5 on offensive end and was getting abused by their FR point guard.

I agree Foumena should be playing more. Fou, Fuchs and Green for all the minutes at 4 and 5. Sprinkle in Zek here and there at 4 in emergency.

Always, Weston, Brown should be out of the core rotation and used in emergency situations only.

Can we please guard someone? 84 points and lose.

15, you think our best players, our freshmen, will want to stay here when it's obvious the stubborn coach wont change his defensive philosophy no matter what?

Good luck with that.

I was talking about the 2nd half. He started the half, gave up a layup and an offensive rebound and missed a 3pt attempt. He came out and then not sure if he played again. If he did, it wasn’t for long.

Cam is shooting 42% from 3, and he was wide open many times today, but the offense doesn't look for him. Is it because he's a freshman? Not sure what the deal is, but they are better when Cam is shooting.

If the excuse is that the defense takes a long time to learn, then it has to be scrapped. With the amount of player turnover from year to year, it will never be learned. 90+ points in 3 of the last 4 games. 2 turnovers the entire game, 0 in the 2nd half. You score 84 points and still lose by 8. It's not working. And with a bunch of new players next year, it won't work then either. How long before Archie changes his philosophy? We're never going to win games giving up 90 points and not turning the other team over.

He had 8 pts in 5 minutes in the first half. He then played him 2 minutes in the second half. 2... Cox at least played Walker for 15 minutes or so. This is even worse..

Archie years ago had his players for 3-4 years and could teach them the packline.

Dont have that luxury now.

Like Billyboy just said, he has to change his defensive strategy.

This team either doesn't care about defense or just can't play it with any effectiveness.

We will not win many games now or in the future turning teams over 2- 4 times a game.

Aggressive pressure half court defense..
Even Cox used it at times.

Call Dan after the season lol.

I’m probably the biggest Carey fan here, but what exactly what he be doing right now?

The season would more or less be the same.

He’d be taking minutes from Cam most likely, no point in that.

Not a true point guard, so wouldn’t be spelling Luis.

I fear that next year could possibly be about the same as this year. I don’t see how Fou stays seeing how Archie treats him and his buddy Stewart likely leaving won’t help. Cam could potentially leave because he gets an offer at a better school and knows the chance of being successful while he is here is small. Fuchs might be the only FR to stick around. But who knows?

And how will we get better players to come here? With each passing season we are further removed from any type of success we can use to lure players. Same for Archie. Recruits want to know what have you done lately. Not what did you do 10 years ago. Even though the record will be better than last year, I don’t really feel the program as a whole is trending upwards as much as it should be.

If Archie won't change, then he's the wrong coach for this program at this time.

He's not old, but refusing to change makes him seem like a dinosaur.

Coaches who are winning now are the ones who can adjust and adapt to the new reality.

Not the ones who try to force feed tactics that aren't working for their players skill sets.

That's our very own AM.

Yeah I thought coming in here Arch was a better bench coach but doesn’t seem like he is making the proper adjustments

Also you need to adapt to your personell , he’s not doing that and it’s not working!

The whole “pack line takes years to learn” excuse was just something a few people came up with last year in an attempt to defend Archie because we were so bad. It’s now taken on a life of its own and become the boogeyman around here.

It’s different, so there is some learning curve if you’ve never done it before, but it’s just a variation of a man to man defense and is not so different that it’s impossible to learn. We just suck defensively. If we switched to a more traditional man defense we’d still just suck defensively.

Blueram, we have some talent here for sure, especially the freshmen. If Archie could bring in a few more like them over the next couple years, and we cut out the weakest links, we might actually be good by that point.

That could be done years ago, and he did that at Dayton.

But those days are over, now that players can come and go at the drop of a hat.

I have very little confidence that we will be able to keep our core talent like Dan did

Bone I think he has 2 recruits coming in that are pretty good. Keep the 3 freshmen (Fou, Cam and Fuchs) and add the two recruits and we shall see.

Worst defense I can ever remember seeing. Ever. We have given up an AVERAGE of 95+ pts in our last three road games. 95+ pts! Can anyone confirm the last time this has happened in the program? Or is this the first??

I'm really trying to be patient with Archie, but I'm at a complete loss with how he can continue running the same defensive scheme given how bad it has been almost all year. You're telling me there's not a better defensive scheme we can try running to at least hold our last three road opponents to an avg that is under 95+ pts a game? If that's the case, then that's an even bigger concern that in Arch's professional opinion, our "best" (and only) defensive scheme for this group of players to run is the one where we give up an AVERAGE of 95+ pts in our last three road games. Someone please say this isn't so.

It’s different, so there is some learning curve if you’ve never done it before, but it’s just a variation of a man to man defense and is not so different that it’s impossible to learn. We just suck defensively. If we switched to a more traditional man defense we’d still just suck defensively.
Yup, people act like the packline is the hardest basketball concept of all time.

Enough with that excuse.

The players just aren’t good enough.
The COACH chose every single player you're seeing out there. He decides the rotation and the tactics.

Brandon threatened the Greek God of Fouls today. He played 6 minutes and fouled out.

Our defense might have been better in the second half if we played Fou...

Huge turnover plus not talented enough overall spells bad news as it stands.

Archie obviously knows this.

It's up to him to keep the good and replace the bad with a serious upgrade in talent.

How many more years before it happens, or will it happen?

That's what is so depressing. I expected us to be good by year 3 of Archie.

Wish I could know we will be, would make what's going on now easier to take.

I got a $1 that says we won’t change the defense philosophy.
I think the defensive philosophy must be don’t bother playing it
