The full irony here is that Miller Lite used to be the sponsor.

With our experiences trying to buy beer thru the years, I’m not sure any beer sponsor would have been a good choice, but Bud Light? Ugh

Green's Coach at Hofstra got sick, Green transferred to Louisiana Tech to a Coach who had recruited him preciously. HC at Louisiana Tech then transferred to Tulsa and Green had his 3rd Coach. Didn't work out and now he is on his 4th College Coach.
Miller said Green came in knowing it would be an uphill battle to get a Waiver. Said he and his family provided countless, endless documents to support the Waiver.
Why different from others? Don't know. Some used different tactics to get player Waivers approved.

Guards Rebounding Needs to Improve
Steve also asked about rebounding from the guards and do you need to see more rebounding from the guards. Miller said "Way more, Way More". Need rebounding from Cam, Luis, all the guards have to rebound more. If our guards don't rebound Saturday we are in trouble"

Josaphat
Miller talked about Josaphat and his effectiveness vs Yale. Said he wlll not be playing 30 minutes as he will need to build up to that. He will get a 4 minute run each half at least. He had a 4 minute run 1st half vs Yale, and then a few 4 minute runs in the 2nd half and came out winded. Said if Josaphat doesn't play vs Yale we don't win that game.

PC
Spoke about PC. Spoke highly about Josh Oduro who has added a lot to PC to gio along with Carter and Hopkins giving them 3 solid guys capable of being All Big East level players.

Cam Estevez up now as Miller is finished up

I think Steve tried to get something on that but I didn't come away feeling one way or another based on Archie's response.

Steve asked about the Players Only meeting that they had following the Johnson & Wales game. He asked Cam about it also in the interview following Miller. Cam said the players didn't feel good about sone things from the J & W game. Said it was a good meeting, helpful.

Steve asked Cam who the 2-3 players on the team are that he hangs around with. Can said he hangs around all of the players on the team. Said they all get along well and enjoy one another.
Felt it was a good answer from the Freshman who was excellent in the interview.

I of course knew it probably wasn't happening, but I was going to keep hope alive while it was. Especially when there have been several players in similar and less deserving circumstances that have received waivers.

It's still complete and utter bullshit and the NCAA deserves every bit of criticism they can get. The fact he's had to deal with all these coaching changes and he only played in six games last year? Ridiculous. Not to mention he played the covid year which didn't count against his eligibility because of the assumed risk.

Hope Green is as good as advertised. Sorry guys, pretty big risk taking an average at best mid major player who may not be eligible for two years when you're trying to rebuild. I mean Archie said he's way better than he thought he would be, so it should work out. Probably was the best they could get after whiffing on Tim Dalger.

I didn't get the impression he would change the starting line up, but then again didn't get the impression he wouldn't.

He did speak very highly about Oduro with his skill rebounding, blocking shots, passing and shooting. Both he Steve agreed Oduro was the best big man in the A1O last year. Miller spoke very highly about Carter, Oduro and Hopkins. He said Oduro's addition gave PC significantly more strength.

So as much as Miller played up the two big men for PC it seems somewhat improbable to me that he would go with a 4 guard line up to start the game. He talked about the need for the Guards to rebound "Way More".

URI Leads the A10 in Rebounding with 41.0 rebounds per game. In saying he wants more rebounding from guards would he really go with 4 guards against PC starting Hopkins and Oduro? If he were to go away from Fuchs maybe goes with Bilau and Brown to start against Hopkins and Oduro?

Maybe instead of changing the starting lineup he subs sooner with Bilau?

Will be fun to watch Miller Coach this one.

The stage will be way too big for Fuchs to start. Can’t risk a sloppy, out hustled turnover and easy PC hoop.

I thought the interview with cam was awesome. He seems like such a nice guy.
Takeaways from Cam:
Wrist is good. Downplayed the injury.

Asked about the Northwestern game and he said he came into the game with a mindset to help win.

He said he has had to make an adjustment to the level of competition
Said the speed of the game has slowed down for him. The physicality of the game is the main change for him.

Steve said he is the nicest guy going and asked what he sees as the difference of him on the court. Cam said “on the court I have to be a dog, all I care about is helping the team win”

Asked about Pee Cee, he didn’t bite about the hype. Said they take one day at a time, everyone wants to win, he just wants to compete well.

He considers himself a very diverse offensive player, more comfortable with the ball in his hand but can play off the ball as well.

Talked about his love for Woodward, said he was sold on the culture of URI, that was the main reason he chose to come here. “This is a home for me “

Started playing basketball at 11. So always feels he has to work harder because he stared later than others. Likes the free flowing offense of Millers.

Player only meeting: all decided that attitudes had to change and that they needed to come together to win.

This is Greens fourth school so I’m not surprised, same as bamisile for VCU, only thing is that he already hasn’t played a game for a year lol

Obviously, I want him to play and I'm annoyed but If there's a year when I'm okay with a good player sitting out, it's this one. We weren't going to win many games, with or without Green this season. Perhaps this situation ends up being a blessing; maybe our young guys like Fou, Fuchs, and Cam develop faster with Green out, and next year, we could become a legitimate threat to win the A10 with Green's addition. Maybe the following year, we'll be in contention for a bid with Green! Who knows? It's unfortunate, but I'm not that upset. This year, I just wanted to see better basketball and have some pieces to build around, which I think we have

It's Green's third school

Similar to Femi Odukale who played at Pitt, then Seton Hall and got a waiver to play at New Mexico State a couple weeks ago

Moussa Cissè played at Memphis, then Oklahoma State and just got a waiver today and will play Saturday for Ole Miss

Both of them played in every game last year UNLIKE DAVID GREEN WHO PLAYED IN SIX

It's horseshit!

Why can't we win it this year? Literally just beat Yale who might be better than everyone in the A-10 not named St Joe's or Dayton. Green could push us over the edge...happy for Femi Odukale and Moussa Cissè though 🙄 glad their names were drawn out of the waiver hat.

Correct. Green played at Hofstra, then transferred to Louisiana Tech and played for 2 years and 2 different coaches. URI is his 3rd school and Archie is his 4th coach.

Almost makes it feel like some boosters paid off the NCAA to get these guys eligible

OR, what do all of the teams those other two players transfered to have in common?

Football schools. For Football schools, nothing is really a problem, in today's NCAA. Just a formality really, for the haves vs the have nots.

Is this quote incorrect?
Green's Coach at Hofstra got sick, Green transferred to Louisiana Tech to a Coach who had recruited him preciously. HC at Louisiana Tech then transferred to Tulsa and Green had his 3rd Coach. Didn't work out and now he is on his 4th College Coach.
