Well, I can’t believe I have to writeup a preview for this regular season matchup. Still a bit puzzled as to why this game is even being played. After getting dominated in Uncasville, I guess it is good that Rhody can come home & get an easy win…not that this win means anything. A quick synopsis of the other team since I don’t really have it in me to write an in-depth preview is that the Griffins’ best player is junior guard Josh Zangerle, who is averaging 15.8 points & 5.3 rebounds per game. His freshman year he finished as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year. Leading the team in assists is former Cranston East guard, Aireus Raspberry, who is averaging two and a half assists per game. In addition to Raspberry, some other local Rhode Island players on the team are Sean Duke (who is David Duke’s brother) from Classical, Miftah Ibiyemi from Highlander Charter School in Providence, Abdoulaye Kourouma from Woonsocket, & Jayden Weeden who went to Pilgrim in Warwick.

As for Rhody, ummm…don’t get hurt. I know it is a completely different roster but the last time the Rams played Johnson & Wales they shot an abysmal 15% from deep. Hopefully their shooting is better Wednesday afternoon or the 268 fans in attendance will be disappointed. My prediction, we see Ray Allen III hit a three towards the end of the game to get them into triple digits, with a final score of URI 101 – JW 50. Go Rhody & Happy Thanksgiving!!

I suppose the value of this game is washing the weekends loses around the mouth and spitting that out with some lessons learned emphasis on weaknesses exposed at Mohegan.

J&W is 1-3 so far this year, with a 33-point loss to Salve Regina, a 34-point loss to WPI and a 23-point loss to Ithaca. This kind of seems like a waste of time for both sides, but whatever. Might as well get Dubsky, Stewart and the walk-ons some time to play in a game.

Definitely feels like a glorified exhibition. Maybe the idea was just to get a game in to keep everyone fresh and get some more work against another team. Without this game we would have been looking at only 2 games over a two and a half week stretch against Yale and Providence, which should be two tough games, so I'm just guessing that was the rational.

Agree. It does nothing to help this team move forward. Would rather play a road game at a power 5 school that they won’t win, but it will them in the future with adjusting to tough environments.

You can only have two combined exhibitions and secret scrimmages. We had the secret scrimmage at Harvard and the Assumption exhibition, so we can't have another exhibition

Yes, sad to say but we can't blame it all on Fuchs for the weak rebounding. NUMEROUS times in the WS game I saw 3 or 4 blue shirts around the defensive basket and the 1 white shirt either got the rebound or the put back. Need some real rebounders like Cyril or Hassan. They were animals on the boards.

Should get to see some of Connor and Rory today. Although Archie doesn't even mention Rory in his PCs anymore. But he's looking to get Connor some minutes to develop him. I think Archie still sees Connor as part of the future, but probably already realizes that Rory might not be.

I wonder if the international play did more to hurt Rory's stock than help it. You could hope on his 3 point shooting before and explain away issues by his lack of run last season. With playing time seeming to not be an issue on Great Britain's team, but Rory still struggling to consistently hit that shot, all of a sudden it doesn't seem like he has a role

Maybe between the initial injury and missing some practice time, he is trying to catch up.
Granted it may be tough for him to crack the rotation with Bilau coming back.
But I do root for him because he does seem to give a good effort and he gives us something we currently don't have, a big that can stretch it.
