This two week old post did not age well for URI football. Two straight losses, one a blowout, have ended all post season tournament consideration. At 4-4, a winning season record is now not even a given.

Note the words "could be"

If I'd said "will be" then it didn't age well.

INEXPENSIVE FLOSPORTS LINK ALERT: (We should add these to new game thread posts)

Shout out to EZBuckets for this post awhile ago. That link still works and you can watch Rhody Football for $15 per month. I just did this and I'm watching the game.

Hey all, for anyone who hasn’t signed up for FloSports to watch the tourney yet, I found a link to sign up for only $12.50 per month instead of $30.

Just go here;

http://flosports.tv/caa

You can then sign up for basketball and even though it appears to be CAA specific, you’ll get access to ALL FloSports streams including the Cayman Island Classic. (I confirmed)

Go Rhody!!!

short, short passing game:

last drive:

incomplete
7 yard pass
incomplete
5 yard pass
1 yard pass
4 yard pass, 6 yards after the catch
-1 yard pass, 18 yards after the catch
1 yard pass, 5 yards after the catch

6 of 8 for 46 yards. Actually 6 of 8 for 17 yards if you take away the effort after the catch by the receiver.

That TD was a 19 yard pass and a 25 yard catch & run. The longest pass attempt of the game so far.

The kind of pass we saw routinely at the beginning of the season against the likes of Stony Brook, Bryant, and even Georgia St.

Now THAT's starting to look like the Offense that began the first three games of the season, and wasn't even attempted in game 4 vs Villanova.

Somewhat returned to in games 5 & 6, and then once again mysteriously abandoned, for no apparent reason, in games 7 & 8.

Would you look at that...

Strong Offense, leads to pressure on their Offense, to play catch up, and gives our Defense momentum. and UNH unable to counter... punt.

It's like an epiphany took place at half time.

That drive:

Karim Hill runs for loss of 3 on first down. 8 yard plass. 3 and out.

I think they fared better with throwing a 33 yard deep ball on 1st and scaring their secondary to start. You don't even have to complete it, just put it somewhere where only the receiver can get it, or can't. If nothing else, it will back their corners and outside linebackers up so they don't have a dozen people in the box when you go to run it.

great call there, advance the ball to the 1 on 4th and 2 from the 15.

In New Hampshire, you go for the FG. But in Meade, you go for the first down and the TD.

McKenzie punches it in.

I don't get it either.

The receivers on this team are so good, like way beyond what most other teams have in this conference, with the exception of Delaware, that the moment Hill threatened to go deep on their Defense -- he didn't even complete the pass, just attempted a 33 yard pass on first down to start the 2nd half -- their entire Defense panicked.

Like literally, the only thing stopping URI are themselves. Baffling play calling and not playing to their strengths. URI's receivers are so good, as you can see with Hill, he merely has to get them screen passes and 5-7 yard dump passes and they do the rest. Out in the open field, they are lower percentage passes, but when they catch them in stride, often they are gone. TD city.

Hill actually throws for about 100 yards a game, and those receivers get him about 300 yards in the stats column. It was getting to the point that they could have just let Farrell take the reigns if they weren't going to turn things around by half time.

Can someone explain to me why Jaden McKenzie doesn't start? Gabe Sloat starts every game. With McKenzie, you could establish the run right off the bat and play pass off of that. Sloat doesn't do that. That's why this team always gets off to a slow start. It makes no sense.

In my opinion, they should start every game like they did that second half.

Send 3-4 receivers down the field and throw it deep. And then rush McKenzie the very next play. Stretch them out like silly putty.

Enough with the conservative dink and dunk stuff for an entire half.

Entire offense should have been built around him. Would have opened up the defense for Hill and the receivers.
