Nick is the mainstay of our strong Offensive Line

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island redshirt senior Nick Correia has collected yet another Preseason All-American honor, as he was named to the HERO Sports All-FCS Offensive Team on Wednesday afternoon.

The offensive lineman was also tabbed to the Bluebloods FCS Preseason All-American Team earlier this summer.

A Nantucket, Mass. native, Correia was one of six CAA Football standouts to receive recognition from HERO Sports.

One of the most decorated linemen in Rhode Island history, Correia was a 2022 Stats Perform Third-Team All-America selection. He also was a CAA Football First-Team All-Conference selection, his third straight season earning all-CAA recognition. Correia was a second-team pick in 2021 and a third-team selection in 2020.

Last fall, Correia led an offensive line unit that paved the way for the third-highest scoring offense in the league, as the Rams piled up 30.6 points per game behind a balanced attack. Behind its line, URI ranked fourth in CAA Football in both rushing attack (168.8 yards per game) and passing attack (235.3 yards/game). The Rams were also fifth in the league with just 21 sacks allowed in 11 games.

Correia has started 37 consecutive games at right guard for Rhode Island, manning the spot for every game since the start of the 2019 season.

Rhode Island, which was slotted 25th in the HERO Sports FCS Preseason Top 25, will begin its 2023 campaign on the road at Georgia State on Thursday, Aug. 31.
