Guess the social media leaves always tell a story
As long as he can come in and be effective in case Green doesn’t get a waiver

David Fuchs
18.8 years old | 6’8” Forward | Ratiopharm Ulm
A toolsy 6'8" forward out of Austria, Fuchs has an impressive ability to put the ball on the floor to attack closeouts and punish mismatches when he's defended by smaller perimeter players. Defensively he is able to use his size and length to bother opposing ball-handlers and contain penetration in the perimeter. Fuchs lacks high-level experience and hasn't been efficient as a shooter as of this point, but the combination of tools, defensive potential and ball-handling ability is definitely intriguing.

Hopefully he gets here soon without issue and can start working out with the team.
He is probably very raw, so the more time here the better.

Re: '23 F David Fuchs (URI verbal)
I was thinking the same thing, we are so raw in the frontcourt.
Better hope Green gets an immediate waiver, he will help at the forward spot.

Solid pickup. Euro players I’ve watched over the years have good basketball fundamentals. He’s young and will need time to develop but I like his size and potential.

Re: '23 F David Fuchs (URI verbal)
Compared to last year, I think our frontcourt will make a better impact.
Brown will be ready to compete at this level.
As Foumena said he had a year to practice and train under a D1 program. He'll need some game-time experience, but I still think he was our best big man recruit last year.
Rory is a year older and looked like a totally different player later in the season.
Then you factor in a player with solid size that has proven he can at least hit the 3 at this level in Green. From what I'm hearing, the staff is confident he will get a waiver
You still have our best big man that played last year in Bilau who could return.
Guys like Zek and Weston can play the 4 if need be.
I really think our frontcourt will be fine.

With Fuchs practicing against players like Sagaba Konate and Bruno Cabocolo every day I think his upside could be very high

Yeah, Stevey I agree that our frontcourt should be improved over last season.steveystuds06 wrote: ↑11 months agoCompared to last year, I think our frontcourt will make a better impact.

But last year we had the worst frontcourt in the conference.
It will be interesting to see how they match-up against our competition.
When I said raw, I was thinking of lack of Div.1 experience with our group as a whole.
Just several question marks there for now.
I hope Brown and Foumena will transition well into Div.1 play.
Sometimes not that easy and it takes time moving up from Juco or being a RS freshman.
Last year (C) Blaise Keita (6'11"/240) the #1 rated Juco center struggled immediately in his 1st season at Div.1.
Others make a faster jump, just don't know.
The additional year should definitely help Rory.
Stevey, like I said, I hope you are right about the above mentioned, because that can make a huge difference.

Maybe he’ll surprise but with global recruiting becoming commonplace surprises are few and far between. Let’s hope he doesn’t foul out in four minutes of play.

And hey he's already been playing in front of crowds better than he will see in the Ryan Center

Remember most of his time and his impactful minutes came in the German Developmental League.
It is hard to tell how his game will transition against a much higher level of competition.

Re: '23 F David Fuchs (URI verbal)
Archie is placing more emphasis on recruiting foreign national because the odds of uncovering a "diamond in the rough" or a player overlooked by the power conferences is higher than the home market. URI has not had huge success with foreign players - Nikola comes mind - any others?

Hardly gotten any minutes, but he will be way more well rounded than your average American freshman.
I mean European players are becoming more and more prominent in the NBA and in college because the AAU system is trash.

But in Fuch's situation, I am trying to be realistic.
PRT I hope he can contribute early and make an immediate impact as much as you.
And yes, most freshmen come in pretty raw, including the foreign ones.
Others that are more highly recruited may play on top prep and AAU teams, facing the toughest competition in the nation and are obviously more prepared.
Just curious, how many Div.1 schools offered him and who was our competition?
Many programs including schools in our conference scout international players.
