We can't sign any '24s until November. I've talked about him before, The one I want is Jalik Dunkley-Distant. I have no idea where we are with him though. We could be anywhere from being at the top of his list to he's not even considering us. I have no idea.

Yes, his twin is Jahnai. He's pretty good too, but not rated as high as Jalik.

It's almost like recruiting rankings are a crapshoot....

I've always considered them akin to projections. Obviously, if you can take the Top 10 of a class, that's probably better than 11 to 20, and they're better than 21 to 30, and so on. But you're going to have good and bad outliers throughout the Top Whatever. Ideally, if you're not grabbing the very best recruits for your league, then your head coach is a good scout, and he can find diamonds in the rough; or, he's a good teacher, and he can turn lower level prospects into legitimate guys.

I know his Dad. He played at Uconn in the 80s or early 90s I believe.

Was going to put this in the '22-'23 thread but it's locked so I'm throwing it here. Played for Kenny at National Christian Academy High. Go get 'em Kenny!

I also just saw that 78 and was going to post.
Not sure if they were interested in bringing in any more prep recruits, but he would be a nice addition.
Good scoring wing.

Does Coleman know someone at URI? Why would he come here? Charleston is more ready to win than URI

He played for Kenny in High School. He had tons of interest from high majors before he committed to Charleston. I'm guessing UConn is in the mix. A spot opened up today with Hawkins declaring for the draft. I just threw it out there as a prayer because of the Kenny connection. I don't think there's any chance he'd consider us.

A previously established relationship a coach has with a player and there family can go a long way.

Coleman on his recruitment (2022):

“I am going to be looking at the style of play,” Coleman said.
“If a school gets up and down and focuses on defense, getting stops, that’s it. Relationships always matter. That is why I am looking at Xavier really hard; they have been hitting my line since before I got ranked. NC State coming to watch me texting me about the game meant a lot. Relationships will play a major role in my decision.”

If Kenny and Isaiah were close with each other, I think it is very possible we can be in the mix. Time will tell. Here’s hoping.

Hmmm....another kid requesting to be released from his NLI. The interesting thing here is....Kenny JUST started following him on twitter. My conspiracy theory? Isaiah Coleman and Brandon Gardner are both coming here. Both asking for their release today. Kenny being connected to one for a couple of years ago and the other today. Am I crazy?

Both Coleman and Gardner had attended Christian Academy so that would be the Kenny connection.

I don’t think UConn is in play. They already have 5 freshmen coming in next season and are planning to bring in a couple transfers after they get the numbers worked out, with Timberlake being a priority as of now.

If Coleman originally signed with Charleston, he might be flexible with what he’s looking for.

Why did they ask for their releases? Gardner I guess makes sense. He was going to talk to Pitino but I get it if it’s not the coach you committed to. What about Coleman?

Chicken or egg, maybe they are talking to Kenny because he’s heading to AL, or he has an in with them which now makes him more attractive to AL…lose, lose for us with those scenarios.

Loyalty, obligation. Interesting concepts.

If coaches don’t have it, can’t expect players to have it. Although, loyalty and obligation have limits and those limits vary from one person to another, I guess.

I am hoping KJ’s limit is at least 3 years.

Carry on.
