Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
Bar I was just going to post him in the "Transfer" thread.
He is a player Woodward should be all over, being from his backyard in East Orange NJ.
Also shot 54% FG
I would love us to add a player like this with our last spot.

Agreed Jersey. Would want him over Fuchs in a nano second. Another proven commodity.

I’d be worried about them being poached by Proctor & Gamble.

Yup, give me proven commodities over JUCOs and less heralded freshman any day of the week.bigappleram wrote: ↑11 months ago Agreed Jersey. Would want him over Fuchs in a nano second. Another proven commodity.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
IMO, our biggest need or spot to fill is a PF or 4 and if they can stretch it even better.
Currently we only have Rory available who is still very raw but in time can develop into a solid player.
Even if Archie decides to play small, that only leaves us with Brown and Foumena upfront and neither have any Div. 1 experience which can pose a problem until Bilau is able to come back and be effective.
There are still several available so curious to see what direction the staff will go.

This is the last weekend to bring recruits on campus before the "Dead Period" 5/18 - 5/26.

I'm glad we still have one spot open to see who entered the portal at and near the deadline.

The last weekend but, perhaps not a good weekend.
You don’t want to piss off mom - unless coach arranges the visit to end by early Saturday evening.
Recruiting while pissing off mom’s…no bueno.
I think it is listed as a big no, no in the recruiting handbook.
Not that you insinuated anything, Jersey. But just in case, be prepared to duck and cover in case there are any lurking mother’s on here.

I am a mother, and I would love a Mother's Day present such as a REALLY good recruit signing with us! The heck with a great brunch, I want a great player.Jdrums#3 wrote: ↑11 months agoThe last weekend but, perhaps not a good weekend.

LTR - For that selfless display of Rhody support you deserve brunch AND a great player!
Happy Mother’s Day!
Pay attention, Archie and staff.

Surely if we get this guy our team would have the best names in the country?

A paid for trip with mom to beautiful Rhode Island.
Plus, her son gets a scholarship offer to URI and hopefully accepts, what a nice present for mom.

Don’t forget a nice NIL offer, too.
I stand corrected.

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
He can help on the boards - which fills a need. Plus can provide some scoring and another 3 point threat.
He could improve the team.
Based on what Stevey presented above, what’s not to like ?

I love that 3pt %. Seems like the coaches are finally prioritizing shooters, which is great.steveystuds06 wrote: ↑11 months agoHe would be a better get than Green.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑11 months ago The latest to enter the portal who Kenny followed and who followed back. 6'7" wing from FAMU.

Archie yet to take a one and done.
(He averaged 16 ppg against those 3 and 9 on the year?)

Re: General Visits/transfer recruiting
We haven't yet but not like Archie hasn't tried: Pride, Minor, Mack, and Conway, just to name a few.
I think he will try and take a player that fills our biggest need, regardless of how many eligibility years left.

Rather take a freshman at this point, like Spenser Mahoney..

It's pretty common, like an informal kind of agreement that you'll make the team if you come to the school. I can't remember who, but we had someone else who was a preferred walk-on within the past five years.

Talking about walk-ons.
Trivia question.
Name a non-scholarship basketball player who was 1st Team All-American and National POY?

Interesting. Did they just not have a basketball scholarship, or none at all?
Like, could they have had a football or baseball scholarship? Dick Groat?

Bill Bradley is a good guess and yeah he was a POY but prior to the Naismith Award.
Not the one, I had in mind, but was a trick question.
