There would have to be a big turn around with the team having just been swept three games at St Joe's. This team has been on a downward spiral for the last four weeks losing 11 of its last 15 games. It does not even have a winning season record at home going a miserable 7-9 at Beck. Team is presently a disappointing 20-27 overall and 10-11 in a weak A-10.

Two out of three should be good enough. In that case we would have an identical record as VCU, but would own the tiebreaker due to winning the series. Not sure yet what happens if other schools get lumped in to the tiebreakers if it's more than us and VCU

3. Dayton 13-8 at UMass
4. George Mason 12-8 vs St. Joe's
5. Saint Louis 12-9 vs Fordham
6. Richmond 11-9 vs Davidson
7. VCU 11-10 at Rhode Island

8. Rhode Island 10-11 vs VCU
9. George Washington 8-12 at St. Bonaventure

Big 8-5 Win for URI this afternoon vs VCU at the Beck
Today's Victory Puts URI and VCU tied at 11-11 and tied for the 7th playoff spot.

When we were up 5-4 we got 3 huge runs in the 4th inning to go up 8-4.

With the bases loaded and 2 out, Catcher Rob Butler was at the plate and the catcher had a passed ball, so a run scored. Then the pitcher had a balk and another run scored. Butler walked and Mark Coley singled in the 3rd run of the inning for URI. Amazing how all 3 runs scored with 2 out.
The VCU Pitcher and Catcher had some words after the Passed Ball. Looked like they were crossed up with the signals and the catcher was looking for a different pitch than what he got. The pitcher was still shook up it seemed when he got a balk on the next pitch.

Mark Coley had a big 3 Run Homer to the opposite field in right. The wind was blowing pretty hard and steady towards right field. VCU had a Home Run to right field off a right handed batter than actually hit the Right Field Foul Pole.

Because of rain forecast for Saturday we will play a Double Header tomorrow (Friday) with the first game at 11:30am. Senior Day festivities will be held between the two games. The 2nd game will start 50 minutes following conclusion of the 1st game.

URI only needs to win 1 of the 2 games Friday. VCU needs to win both. VCU was picked preseason to finish 2nd AND VCU is hosting the 7 Team A10 Tournament in Richmond. It would be a big disappointment for VCU to lose out on the last A10 Playoff Spot.

VCU scored 1 run in the 5th, 1 in the 6th, 1 in the 7th, 2 in the 8th then Ryan Andrade shut them out in the top of the 9th!!
Billy Butler went 4-5 including a 1st inning HR. Clutch hitting by our Left Fielder

Trystan Levesque with a solid, gutsy pitching performance as the starter.

Rhody wins 7-5!!!

On the Richmond for the A10 Tournament!

Not meaningless. VCU will get in the tournament over George Mason if they beat us this afternoon and George Mason loses their two remaining games. Plus you have seeding implications 4-7

Well yeah it used to be like that but since covid that hasn't been the case. Like we just canceled our game with UConn Tuesday just because both teams didn't feel like it.

UCONN took the place of Boston College a few weeks ago when BC had some issues with their return flight from North Carolina. It was a last minute sub of UCONN ranked #10 Nationally.

URI was very, very focused on the VCU series. Nobody from the A10 will be getting an At-Large NCAA bid so the UCONN game would not be so important.

Both coaching staffs made decisions about cancelling in their best interest.

Redshirt junior Alex Ramirez was first team all-conference at shortstop, redshirt senior Billy Butler first team outfielder, freshmen Michael Anderson shared second-team first basemen and was all-rookie, sophomore Ryan Andrade was second team relief pitcher, freshman starter Braeden Perry was all-rookie, and redshirt junior second baseman Addison Kopack was all-academic

We take on #5 seed Richmond at 7 to try and keep our season alive and advance to tomorrow's 3 pm game. We have not played them yet this season. The game will be on ESPN+

URI gets smoked by Richmond 13-3 losing both A-10 Tournament games in a double elimination round. Season is now over.

Rhody finishes a disappointing year with an overall losing record of 23-29. Counting the A-10 Tournament, the team went 13-13 versus rather weak A-10 competition. URI under-performed at home going just 10-9.

Lame.

spare me the facilities this, that, the other. There is no reason URI can't be one of the better programs in the northeast as we stand now.

Maybe change is needed in the baseball office.

not counting athletic admin, business office, AT/S&C, baseball is tied for third with WBB in staff size, behind football and MBB respectively.

The one advantage we had over other northeastern programs is we were an early adopter of field turf. However, our turf is now at the end of its life cycle and needs to be replaced and other schools have now added it, so even with a new surface we don't reclaim an advantage we had, we just get level to other programs. We also don't have lights at the facility, which is a joke considering most towns have a Little League field with lights at it. Finally, there are almost no stands to watch a game and no facilities to support any fans that do show up. Facilities are a giant issue throughout our athletic department and baseball might be just below football in terms of it being an issue needing to be fixed immediately

I've shown that there is a reason URI is lagging in the Northeast. Sorry if you want to be spared the facilities, but the proof is in the pudding. Maine, in Orono, with two weeks of decent college baseball weather laps us, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. We might not even be in the top 10 in facilities in the Northeast and we're average at best but probably right around the bottom of the facilities in our own conference. Can't get champagne on a tap water budget.

And if we want to make a change in the baseball office we better make damn sure we're right. Raphael Cerrato in 8 seasons here does not have a single losing conference record and is 118-68 in regular season A10 play. Myself, I would say firing a manager with that track record here is absolutely insane

Oof, not a great week for Northwestern. One line in the report is essentially, "He would have been fired earlier for bullying and inappropriate behavior, except we were already busy firing another coach for bullying and inappropriate behavior."

Yeah...that's whacked. "We completed our review, knew the guy was a dangerous, abusive a/w, and we had to fire him, but we were too busy firing this other guy, so we just figured we'd pay him for another season and deal with it after..." This sounds like a situation that NCAA oversight would have been set up to deal with, but instead, reveals just how laughable they are as an entity also...

Another laffer....I guess the over/under for serious penalty is "over 200" ($8mil is 'walking around' money for these programs)...

The Tennessee football program avoided a bowl ban but was fined more than $8 million by the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions, which announced its punishment for the Volunteers on Friday after finding more than 200 individual infractions committed by the school during former coach Jeremy Pruitt's tenure.
