URI begins its 119th basketball season on Monday, November 7 in a home game versus Quinnipiac U. and this event keys the opening of the 14th Annual Prediction Contest.
MAIN PRIZE
The winner of the prediction contest will receive a $200 cash prize.
BONUS PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded in all bonus categories and each winner will receive a $50 Mews Tavern gift certificate based on the most accurate prediction of:
1) Team Scoring - regular season only (to avoid ties, this prediction must be made to two decimals).
2) Top Scorer - regular season only (to avoid ties, this prediction must be made to two decimals).
3) Average Home Attendance - regular season only
4) Mid Season Award - determined by the most accurate prediction of the OOC record, based on 13 games. The winner of this award will be recognized using the same rules that apply to the winner of the overall contest and result will be known on the conclusion of the Wisconsin-Milwaukee game on December 22.
In the first three bonus categories, if bettors submit an identical prediction to one already placed, they will be asked to modify prediction and resubmit.
Note: In the event that a participant correctly predicts all prize winning components, ex the Mid-Season award, the prize would be doubled to a $700 cash award.
PREDICTION COMPONENTS:
Each participant will make a prediction composed of five parts.
1. Regular Season Record (based on 31 games)
2. A-10 Conference Record (based on 18 games)
3. Team Scoring Average, ppg (to two decimals, based on 31 games).
4. Top Scorer & Scoring Average, ppg (to two decimals, based on 31 games)
5. Average Home Attendance, regular season only (17 games - 9 conference, 8 OOC)
The contest is a game of accuracy in predicting the overall regular season record, and the other four components of bet are essentially tiebreakers and will be used to determine the winner according to the above sequence. To move successfully through the sequence requires either predicting the actual result or coming closest to the actual result.
The deadline for submitting a prediction is November 7, Noon.
OTHER GUIDELINES
• This thread is home where all predictions must be submitted.
• Winners of each award must claim prize within 30 days after end of contest. If not done, prize will be awarded to the runner-up in the category.
• The contest is only open to bona fide URI fans and those meeting that qualification must have registered on this forum before September 1, 2022
• Please monitor your private messages soon after you place your prediction, because if there is any problem or duplication with your bet, you will be notified via PM to take corrective action.
With great anticipation, I wait for ECR’s positive prediction because I want to believe and say, screw you to my safe, dull prediction! But, I can’t do it.
Sorry ECR. Look past this imperfect Rhody fan. Onward and upward!
Sorry ECR. After watching the scrimmage, I'm throwing a dose of reality here:
1) 14-17
2) 7-11
3) 67.5
4) Weston 13.2
5) 5100

From your lips to Archie’s and the players ears, ECR. I am with you in spirit and am going to keep my dancing shoes handy just in case. Go Rhody!
1. 15-16
2. 7-11
3. 66.71
4. 13.33

First of all , based on the only thing I have seen of this team is a tape of a blue white game in which the guys didn't look too good , let me say
don't look toward my predictions because for the first time I haven't even a clue . I sure hope the shooting will be better than I saw in a meaningless
intrasquad game . I sure hope they will look better overall when it counts and that they far exceed my mediocre predictions.

Please remember to check your private messages after you submit prediction to see if any corrective action is needed.
luke you forgot to identify name of top scorer.
So tough to judge this year because there are some many unfamiliar names on the roster. Plus I remember Hurley’s first couple years and he didn’t get the ship righted immediately why would Miller. That said…
14-17
7-11

Freeman 13.25

I really hope I’m wrong, but this just isn’t a one year project. I’m committed and expecting that Miller is going to turn this thing around, but that said even with the the lucrative transfers this isn’t a one or two year project. He is going to need to get a core group to buy in and stay here even if other school are offering NIL money. It never was but this just isn’t a easy job. Go Rhody prove me wrong!

Rhodylaw, if you are correct, we would be on the bubble and NIT bound. I’d be happy to crash and burn with my prediction. This place would go nuts - not only because of the wins but because of the endless parade of songs from ECR.
