Huge game at UNH next Saturday

In the coaches poll Rhode Island stayed at 22, New Hampshire went from 21 to 25 with their loss at Richmond. In the Stats poll we've gone from 23 to 22 and New Hampshire has gone from 17 to 21.

#22 Rhode Island at #21/25 New Hampshire sounds like a good game Saturday. Let's keep the playoff hopes alive

Let's look at it this way.

This URI team's only drubbing was at the hands of Delaware. The following week, minus one special teams failure early, they played Pittsburg even the entire length of the game. Anyone who actually watched that game had to come away impressed.

And they lost to ranked W&M in Williamsburg, by one point, trying to go for the two point conversion and the win instead of the tie and OT.

So, this is a team that is as strong as they want to be. As mistake free as they want to be. As efficient as they want to be.

It's like that FIFA World Cup commercial with Santa Claus:

"Dear Santa,

This is the team that could win both of their last two games and make the playoffs for the first time in three decades. All they have to do is believe. That's, like, your whole thing."

I will take that as good news. I believe it rained in all our losses last year. It appears that we were not mudders.

Latest Weather Channel forecast is partly cloudy to mostly sunny throughout the game with temps ranging from 71 degrees at kickoff down to about 67 when the game ends. Winds starting off around 12 mph and down to about 8 when the game ends. Sounds like perfect weather for a game

Would have been nice to be able to listen to the game on the radio on the way to the basketball game.

No game notes on the URI website, so going off of what UNH has for the two deep original starting left guard Adam McKanna, who has been out since suffering a leg injury at Bryant, is now backup to Michael Scibelli instead of Tre Alexander. Dylan Brown and Westley Neal have flip flopped on the defensive line with Dylan Brown listed as the starter today. At kick returner, instead of Jaylen Smith out there with Randy Jordan it is John Erby and Gabe Sloat

Varsity Network sucks. Sometimes hearing the same play played 3 times, then it skips a couple of plays. Now, it's not playing at all.

Yes I was wrong. So used to a noon game. Lol it’s working fine.

What’s up with Deshields?

I’d also love if our offense only ran slant plays. So many athletes that can make plays happen. Kasim is just too inconsistent to throw it far downfield.

Defense is looking good.

All those early season games of having to play double minutes on the field really toughed them up for the second half of the season, they get better every week.

Got to keep this intensity for the entire game.

No way that was intentional grounding. There was a receiver right in the path of the ball, and it actually made it 2/3rd of the way to him before hitting the ground, with Hill falling and off balance on one foot in the grasp.

Defense has done a good job against the run and staying disciplined against the reverse, sweeps and double passes etc…They’ve had some open receivers but either due to the wind or whatever, they weren’t able to link up. They’ve had some more success with some shorter and intermediate routes this quarter.

I still think they have been on the field a little too much this first half, but they just held UNH to a FG, could have easily been more.

The Offense really has to produce this next drive, no excuses. That last UNH drive seemed to go on for a half hour.

I’m staying positive but Hill has been way off today.

This is how he looks all the time. Makes great plays with his feet but consistently misses any throw longer than 10 yards.

Was just about to talk about their stout defensive line, then boom Deshields breaks one!

I agree about the slants. Love it with Erby, Lee, Woods etc. a ton of speed and then guys like Warren, Sumers and Savedge have size to make the catch as well.

Speaking of Savedge, what a great, alert play on their “onside kick”. Could have been a turning point, if they recover and march down. They go into the locker room up 10-7 and get the ball back. Instead they are on their heels a bit. Great play

Wow defense was nails all half and this end of half prevent did anything but…

I hate the prevent. I forget who said it prevents you from winning.

Weren't able to get enough pressure on the QB, and he picked us apart with underneath stuff. I liked the double timeouts there to give the pass rush a chance to catch their breath. Unfortunately we were 1 play away from keeping them out of the end zone.
Pretty big possession for UNH to start the second half.

Anyone else having trouble hearing on Varsity Network? Commercials are ok, but can barely hear broadcast of game.

The New Hampshire broadcast comes through loud and clear.

Good job by the defense to finally get some pressure and limit them to 3. As someone else pointed out, time of possession is out of whack with UNH doubling up. Would love to see a nice long drive finishing with 7.

Now THAT was a nice drive. Long as heck, capped off with the 6.

Keeps cutting out or they replay the same call 2-3 times. Kinda annoying

Can't really complain about the officials, they have called it even all day. Got the tangled legs call right.

We could have iced the game with that second to last drive, well into UNH territory. 1st down. Someone called:

Pitch Left ... into 4 Defenders, loss of 2
Pitch Left AGAIN ... into 4 Defenders, same exact play, loss of one or 2
Keeper, stuffed at line.
4th and 14. Punt.
