They absolutely needed that game against Elon.

Four out of the five remaining: very challenging games.

They need to play more like they did in the second half of this past game, and less like they have been starting games this year. Too often, they start these games sloppy like they are still in the preseason, working the kinks out, trying to see what works.

After halftime they look at lot more cohesive, with a real plan, fewer penalties, they play smarter and more efficiently, with more focus, but they need to start the games like that now. We're past the half way point of the season.

• Monmouth's Jaden Shirden leads the league with 1,103 rushing yards and is second with seven touchdowns on the ground. Rhody's Marques DeShields is sixth with 503 rushing yards and third with six rushing touchdowns.

all of these games will be dogfights from here on out. Last week, Monmouth and Maine had a dogfight at Orono. Now today. When URI plays Maine it will be a dogfight, etc. It's really transcendent of records at this point.

I think URI actually started out fairly strong today, if they didn't, they would have been well behind at the half. Now they have to do what they typically do, which is come out of halftime even stronger and more focused throughout the 2nd half.

URI defense has what looks to be a huge 3-and-out stop, but penalties instead help Monmouth along all the way back into the redzone.

URI maintains a one point lead and has the ball back close to their 20 yard line.

Quickly advances the ball into Monmouth territory, mostly on a 51 yard completion from Hill to Savedge. Now a key 27 yard 3rd down completion to the Monmouth 8.
