The sports teams at URI brought home $27,238,526 in revenue while shelling out $26,737,600 in expenses.

Am i reading this correct? Delaware has twice the budget overall than Rhody ?

You’re correct. The school also kicked in $25M of the $60M raised for renovating the football stadium…Must be nice.

If those numbers are correct, that’s pretty damn good. Most schools lose money or in UConn’s case, run a $40M deficit.

I am not sure how accurate that is. I was looking for how much Rhody's budget is.
It was pulled off the internet.
Its shocking how far behind the budget is.

The athletic department should not be turning a profit. Kind of like the public rail system - it’s supposed to be a cost center that is an investment in quality of life for the community. I’d wager with the increased commitment to spending just in the basketball programs alone that we won’t be seeing a budget surplus from sports again any time soon, as it should be.
