I wouldn't expect the kid to know any better/care but I can't stop laughing the fact that he used a picture of Fatts and Cox for this announcement. Go Terps!

Allette Goes off for Canada Elite

The Middlesex Magic were the top team in the UAA this spring, but in their first game of the summer, they got more than they might have expected from Canada Elite, and 2023 guard Vasean Allette was a big reason why. While his team’s defensive pressure caused the Magic problems on one end, Allette’s shot-making was the story on the other.

He exploded for 45 points including seven three-pointers. They weren’t open, rhythm shots either, but tough shots, often times with a hand in his face, off the dribble. To say he made them in bunches would be an understatement as it was the most impressive display of shot-making we saw on the day.

Ultimately though, it wasn’t enough as the Magic ultimately pulled away in the fourth quarter as JP Estrella finished with a double-double with Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes looked on along with Smart, Howard, and numerous others.

This kid is starting to blow up. Rhody was in on him earlier than most, hope that means something.

Sadly I do not believe being in early helps as the big boys roll in.

You never know. Every kid is different. Some really value loyalty and the relationships they build at a young age with coaches

Recruiting a prospect is an ongoing thing and never ends in the age of the portal.

No big deal if he commits elsewhere. Him not coming now doesn’t mean he won’t be here later…if we still want him in the future. Just start phase two of the recruitment process: wait for him to play PortaLottery.

Looks like he was a package deal with his brother.

We weren't in his Top 10, and then judging from the posts here, his Top 5 had two teams that weren't initially in his Top 10 anyway. So, I get the feeling we were "out" on Allette a while ago, whether because he wasn't interested or staff determined it wasn't a fit.

Just checked his stats, playing at an All League level. Probably would’ve up transferred after this season.

My guess is he surfaces at a P5.

Funny stuff, Smarty.

Maybe he didn’t extend his pinky when drinking his tea at a team pre-game meal.

Off with their heads ! 👎🏻

As expected. Hope Rhody doesn't touch him... sounds like Brayon Freeman v2.0

He’ll go P5.

I’d take him in a heartbeat.

Interesting that his twin brother Yamari is still listed on ODU's roster.
He was also a standout player in Canada, not as highly recruited as Vasean, and is redshirting this season.

I'm not sure I would "take him in a heartbeat" without being sure of the reasons why he was dismissed from the team. Kind of getting Brayon vibes here.

Yea I was gonna go back and add that I’d take him in a heartbeat depending on what he did.

If it was something like a Dana Tate incident, 100% sign him up for here.

Lot of kids get kicked off teams for one reason or another.

Tate had a successful career after he left here.

I would take him immediately, but when we were initially recruiting him, I was told he wasn't interested in us. If he was going to go to an A10 school, it was Dayton.

I don't think it should be "depending on what he did." I think it should be, "is he officially eligible?"
Once eligible, all necessary judgment has been passed. If we had followed that post-Hurls...jus' sayin'..
