Preston Murphy?
Would be awesome if true and not surprising if Hurley put in a good word for him. He said vague, so I am thinking it’s not as clear as someone who is on either school’s staff right now.

How does that connect with Rhode Island?

Possibly TJ Buchanan?

It doesn’t. He said vague, so he could be saying there are multiple candidates with one or more of those ties. But, I like the Preston angle. I get what he did and all and if anyone wants to be bothered with that, go off. I, myself, am unbothered. I hope he gets back in the coaching game if that’s what he wants.

They all did, but Dan and Bobby probably had the most contact with Nate then.

Very unlikely. PC most likely landing Graham Ike which wouldn’t be happening if they had a shot at Dickinson.

Damn I hope not. Would be a big loss. But I have to ask what is the connection with Nate Oats and Kenny Johnson. And as much as I think KJ got a raw deal from the NCAA, can Oats really afford to take a guy that has that show cause or whatever the hell it is on his record with all the stuff that went down at Alabama this year. But this is the second guy that floated his name. That would suck, not even win ten games, lose half your team to the portal and the AC gets poached. Let's hope that it does not happen.

I always liked PM, but being away for 4 seasons doesn't make it easy for him.

Besides I doubt KJ goes anywhere this year.

100% agree

Washington has worked with Oats before as an assistant in his early days definitely his preferred pick

I don’t know, I think that account might just be acting lazy. Slater (who does know stuff) floated Michigan and Rhode Island and said they were vague clues. It would be easy to name Washington (currently at Michigan and worked with Oats before) and Johnson (highest profile URI assistant) and act like you’re really doing something when it’s really just connecting some obvious dots.

KJ has one year left on his show-cause.
Typically, no school will hire a new coach under those circumstances and put themselves at risk especially with Alabama's current situation.
Rhody's case was different because he was already employed here.

Is this what you are talking about

Coaching limits
The Council voted to eliminate the voluntary coach designation across Division I, instead including those coaches within a new limit for countable coaches in each of the applicable sports.

By adopting the proposal, the number of countable coaches in baseball, softball and ice hockey increased to four total in each sport. The Council rejected an additional increase to five countable coaches in those sports.

The Council supported an increase of two coaches in men's and women's basketball. These additional coaches may engage in coaching activities but may not recruit off campus. The rules change codified a waiver in those sports that allowed noncoaching staff members to engage in skill instruction. In both Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision football, the Council redefined graduate assistant positions to graduate student coaches and limited individuals to serving three years maximum in that role.

Men's and women's basketball opted not to impose the current seven-year window for manager positions to increase the opportunity for former student-athletes — who often compete professionally overseas immediately after college — to return to campus in pursuit of degree completion and to professionally develop as potential future coaches. In women's basketball specifically, the professional development of the manager position is considered an opportunity to increase the gender and racial diversity of the coaching ranks long-term, which is a specific objective of the sport's strategic plan.

The coaching limits rules take effect July 1.

You sure have it in for Austin Carroll.
So why doesn't Archie Miller see what you see? Why doesn't he move on the position and fix this situation that concerns you?
Assistant Coaches at URI operate on 1 year contracts that I believe expire in June. Send Archie a note?

I think it’s fair to say we have no idea how Archie views the roles and responsibilities of his staff.

In the same breath it’s clear Austin hasn’t done much if anything at all on the recruiting front. Maybe that’s somewhat by design? You have a top notch recruiter in KJ, have Austin take more of his other day to day responsibilities so he can focus on that

He never played college basketball. He was working in Charlie Baker's office (Former Governor of Massachusetts - now head of the NCAA). Valentine was taking complaints about potholes, etc in his position.
Good info in Bonaventure Board about the 29 year old former football player who has risen rapidly in his 5 years in basketball
