The University of Rhode Island close out their season’s home slate of games Wednesday night when they take on Travis Ford & the Saint Louis Billikens. The Billikens are battling to finish in the top 4 of the A10 to get the double bye while conversely the Rams are struggling to avoid finishing in the bottom 4 to prevent having to play opening night. The Billikens leading scorer at almost 16 per game is 3rd(?) year freshmen Gibson Jimerson. A 40% shooter from behind the arc, Jimerson is also the teams’ top deep threat, having a third of the teams made threes. Yuri Collins runs the point for this team, averaging 8 assists per game. He is turnover prone though, averaging 4 per game. Hopefully the Rams can get some easy baskets off his turnover. Rhody will have to take care of the ball with him around as he is averaging 2 steals per contest. Oregon transfer Francis Okoro has taken over the Hasahn French roll for this team with the main difference being Okoro can hit his free throws. Okoro had a monster double-double in their last game against Richmond when he went for 23 & 15 in the loss. The Rams ended a 3-game losing streak with a win in their last game against a lowly Duquesne squad. The Rams currently do not have a leading scorer averaging 11 points or more. If Makhi & Sheppard don't go off, Makhel could realistically be the only double-digit scorer on this team which is pretty crazy. The Billikens, winners of 3 of last 4 against Rhody, should be favored by about 4 in this game. I don’t see the Rams pulling out a victory in David Cox’s last game at the Ryan Center. Saint Louis 68 – URI 60. Go Rhody!!

Okoro the last couple of games has been living up to his preseason hype as one of the top bigs in the A10.

St. Louis has been historically poor on the road and this season is no exception . they have lost the last three road games and overall are 3-5 on the road
in A!0 play . Their only road wins were at George Mason, Duquesne and Lasalle . So I am going against the grain and picking URI to win this game .
