Took my niece and nephew again to both men and women’s games this weekend and they loved the experience at the women’s game the best. Balloons were a hit and also just an overall fun atmosphere.

Got the free tickets for MBB season ticket holders for Wednesday. Will be there, trying to recruit a few others to join me.

I think this was posted in the WBB thread - but since this is NCAAs or bust, it belongs here as well.

For the first time in HISTORY, the WBB team is getting AP top 25 votes. Rankings-wise this puts them at 34th in the country. A win over Dayton tomorrow (then @Richmond Saturday) could potentially get them into the top 25.

A noon game tomorrow is kind of strange , but I'll be watching . They are a very entertaining team and that shot from half court against Fordham was
amazing.

Remember when someone tried to make a fire reiss thread as a joke to compare it to the fire cox thread?

Because the Lady Rams hit a 3 game skid earlier in the year?

Just out of curiosity, how did the Lady Rams respond to that losing skid?

13 straight and counting. Longest win streak in the country.

NCAAW team of the week. NCAAW coach of the week. NCAA conversation. Coaches poll votes. AP poll votes.

Biggest regular season game in the history of the women's program tomorrow night. A true inflection point of what a "built" WBB program could be.

Win and it could establish this program to have a legit fanbase and following. Nevermind for the the implications of an NCAA birth - which would truly get this program on the radar.

Perfect opportunity for a fanbase that will show up for winning basketball - because there are plenty of fans not going to the Ryan Center to see the men this season.

To say tomorrow is a massive game is an understatement.

Like I wrote in the other sports forum, even if you can't go to the game tomorrow, please consider buying a general admission ticket anyway. Think about it as a donation to show appreciation for what the women's program has done this year. I'd imagine seeing a big boost in sold tickets could send a powerful message that fans will get behind this successful program

Oops, my bad. I was reading another thread that mentioned tonight's PC - Nova game.

People were talking about tonight's sold out national PC game. Two programs going in opposite directions.
That 3 that Gillespie had - I was like yeah that sealed the deal for Nova to win.

Totally opposite directions. Agreed.

Put up or shut up time for the fans. 6pm start is great. If we want to keep a coach like Tammi and keep URI women's basketball as a point of pride for the University, we need to show up.

This is the women's Dan Hurley. This is the right coach. The "Gonzaga of the East" moniker could be real if we support it.

Show up tonight.

Goes to show you don't need an Anthony Garro who, as has been mentioned recently, moved on to Boston College. No coincidence Mike Leprey from the Hurley years is Boston College Associate Director - Athletic Communications (Men's Basketball, Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field).

URI Football, URI WBB, Softball, many URI Sports Teams make effective use of social media. You don't need specialists in this day and age, you need the ambition, desire, passion, creativity, the will to just do it. Rhody WBB has been using social media extensively since Tammi arrived at URI.

Heck I just today got a personal email from Coach Reiss thanking me for my support and for coming to the Dayton game, apologizing for the outcome and asking me to come out to the final game Wednesday.
Simple. You don't need a full fledged marketing department, just connect with the people who attended the Dayton Game and send them a personal email. It's not Rocket Surgery. I'll be at Senior Night anyway, but there are plenty of the 2,415 people who attended the Dayton game who just might go to Wednesday's St Bonaventure Senior Night Game after getting an email from the Head Coach thanking them and reminding them of the last chance to see this year's team in the Ryan Center.

Thank you again Rhody Nation. While the outcome was not what we had prepared for your support made the Ryan Center electric. We can't thank you enough for that amazing show of support.

We will be back at the Ryan Center this Wednesday at 6:00 PM against St. Bonnaventure. Not only is this game our final home game but a pivotal one as we march toward the post-season and extend our season.

Click the image below for a personal message from Coach Reiss.

A lot of it has to do with the head coaches of those programs knowing their roles.

They make decisions and do high level stuff.

They aren’t trying to scout, do grass roots recruiting, manage practice, etc etc.

Cox never pivoted from assistant to HC. So instead of giving 100% to being a head coach and thinking about the high level program stuff, he’s giving 5% to everything.

A lot of it also comes from making terrible assistant coaching hires.

Every single one of Danny’s assistant coaches (except one extenuating circumstance) that left, left him for higher profile programs and more money.

What about Cox? There have been contracts terminated but I don’t know of one former assistant that went up a level.

So he’s been trying to do all their jobs too.

Just a bad fit and he’s not the right HC. He’ll be a great assistant again. Just not head coach.

What about Cox’s?

Hiring and developing staff is a big part of the Head Coach's Job.

The Ball now is in Thorr's court. He didn't give a raise and he didn't extend the contract. I think he knows what he is doing.

In the workplace I don't know how many times a person is released who was not a fit for the job and people say " Finally, what took so long?" That is close to where we are at.

Ramster, it's far from close. It's nowhere near close. It's reached a level of consistent ineptitude that makes mockery and ridicule necessary - especially when you compare it to the remarkable turnaround Tammi has engineered for her program.

It's a tossup whether I'm more embarrassed or incensed at how Cox has taken a program that made me proud to be a fan and dropkicked it right into the sh!tter. And the fact that we're even having a discussion about Cox in a thread that's all about Tammi and her fantastic players makes me even more disgusted.

Since this is Senior Night - will the Covid exemption allows one more year? Or will both Seniors and Grad Students have used up their eligibility? If so that means we're losing 4 of 5 starters. 😳

Does anyone want to take the time to outline what the post season will look like for winning Rams?

I know this depends on our last game vs Dayton (and damn do I wish this game was closer so I could go), but if we finish in 2nd and do well in the A10 tournament do we still have a shot at NCAA? or do we need to win regular conference and/or A10 tournament to make NCAA?

I actually went to the game tonight and it is at the point that some people walk around without masks completely meaning it is getting back to normal which is good. In terms of making the tourney it feels like they need to win at Dayton and lose in the finals. Just my take, but losing to Dayton again and than in A-10 tourney would put them in a tough spot even if they deserve it.

They'll either be the 1 or the 2 seed in the A-10 Tournament, depending on what happens Saturday. Double-bye and won't play again until Friday. Not really sure what the bracket will look like but I like their chances to make the final regardless. URI and Dayton are head and shoulders above the rest of the league in my opinion.

If only someone was talking about the women's tournament bubble on this website....

In fairness I can only speak for myself, but it seems like this is a fan base that is learning on the fly about the women's bubble. All I can say for certain is the Net has us square on the bubble, college sports madness has us in and espn has us second out
