We are still swimming in the same pool we always have and our goal should always be to maximize whatever our potential is at any given point in time and excel relative to our peers. It isn’t as if the entire college athletics world has moved up and left us behind, there are many other schools in a situation similar to ours and we should be thinking about how we can out-compete those schools. It seems silly to me to be focused on what is going on with the PAC 12 or the Big 12 or whatever when we are finishing 15th in our mid major league. Figure out a way to climb the ladder that’s in front of us and save woe is us stuff, IMHO.

A team like URI however had a far better chance to make the NCAA Tournament in the past. The odds are today much tougher.

Really nice ribbon cutting ceremony today for the practice facility. It’s going to go a long way in recruiting for both teams. Training room is top notch. Several players were in attendance and made a video thanking the donors.

Quite the article of Stefan Soloviev.

Definitely worth a few minutes to read the whole thing.

Eleven of the children are with his ex wife Stacey (married 1996-2014) with some being born via surrogate. She gave birth to quadruplets. They also have twins via surrogacy. While no longer married, the couple is said to remain on good terms with her still being involved in some of his business concerns.

Quadruplets? Well that certainly expedited the process.

Electric.. figured most people would know what I meant when I said it.

High energy, not boring, little wild, strong personality, kind of a loose cannon, someone you’d wanna hang and grab a beer with, etc.

If you have 22 kids and can still get out to grab a beer...I mean you've probably had grandkids and toddlers at the same time...yeah, I'd like to have a beer with you...to figure out how the heck you're able to get out and have a beer with anyone?

The walk is 2 minutes at most. It's no different than the walk to the workout facility or training rooms.

URI WBB plays Thursday in Virginia A10 Tournament
The Tournament starts tomorrow with 1st round games

The Practice Center was funded 100% with private funding so not like URI made a "bad" investment. It is also a sunk cost now. Doesn't
t really matter how often you use it. It's paid for, it's there, it's available and provides tremendous flexibility to the MBB and WBB teams.

Practice facility allows players to access 24/7 whereas the Ryan Center does not offer the same opportunity. Jimmy Baron would have loved the 24/7 availability as would Jeff Dowtin and other Gym Rats who can't get too much of practice time

Miller likely wants the Ryan Center because that is the environment that the players will be in Wednesday night. The lighting, the background, rims, depth perception, etc are all advantages for the players. Part of the so called home court advantage.

Given the choice as a player or a coach I'd make the same decision - grab the Ryan Center if I can get it.

Exactly this - having the practice facility is great - but it is also very worthwhile to have practices in the same floor/building/conditions as your next game. Frank Keaney swore buy practicing in game conditions.

I think it's pretty normal for coaches to prefer practicing in the arena during the season.

With almost 2 dozen kids, I'd say our main benefactor for the facility is a pretty big fan of pulling the goalie.
