URI heads back home after yet another loss in Providence to take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers. The Pioneers come to Kingston with a 3-6 record with one of those wins at La Salle to open the season. Sacred Heart is lead by 2 guards, Tyler Thomas & Aaron Clarke. The duo is scoring roughly half of their team’s points. Once again Rhody will have a sizable advantage downlow as Sacred Heart bigs, that see minutes, are between 6-6 & 6-7. As for URI, did Jeremy Sheppard shoot his load during the Georgia St game, because ever since that one he is 3-17 shooting & 0-7 from deep. I really don’t have anything else to say besides just win the game. Finish these 4 remaining OOC games strong & had knows what can happen once conference play starts. URI will probably be favored by double digits. Final score, 77-64 URI. Go Rhody!! PS. For those of you keeping track, former Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine is no longer Sacred Heart’s Athletic Director as he stepped down earlier in the year to run for mayor of Stanford…which he lost last month.

…….yeah, you mean like the “Quahog Cup”……..love the concept, but for all the reasons stated, neva gonna happen…….even URI hosting some type of tournament, “cupcake city baby”……..would probably draw less than flies…..the OOC has forced teams to use these to fit their needs; buy games, play the bigger boys…….post season resumes, on and on……..

Sacred Heart is barley a Div 1 Team...Talk about a team with no interest or buzz, they only average about 600 people per game at home.

This is why I said we should play Thomas 30+ minutes as long as there are no injury or foul issues. This game means nothing, see what you have with him and get him extra experience before conference play

All our remaining OOC games will test the mettle of this Ram team and each of them in their own way is a potential "land mine". Sacred Heart is the land mine with the biggest negative consequences because a loss to an NEC team at Ryan is a killer on ratings and morale. The Milwaukee game is next because it is road game against a bad team.

In their outing against Brown, SHU shot the ball very well from the perimeter (9-27) and was equal to Brown on this stat and others - rebounding, turnovers - but Brown shot the ball very well overall despite SHU putting up more shots. Expect SHU to put up 30 three point attempts, so let's hope they do not have an unusually high success rate. But our bigs should offset that and make the difference in this game. Go Rhody!

Personally, I don't think URI needs to play Brown either. I know Brown has been good in the Ivy League but I'd prefer a beefier opponent on the OOC schedule than them.
