'22 NC/GA SF Nate Brafford (Georgia Southern)
Nate Brafford (6'8") got offered by Rhody. He is considered a deep shooting threat and has scored over 50 pts in a game.
In 2019-2020 he led the entire state of NC in scoring averaging 34 pts/game.

I am not saying anything negative about this kid, bit I did notice he was also a 2 star recruit per VC. Hope this is not becoming a pattern.

This kid at 6'8" is an excellent shooter, good handles, and can score from everywhere.
He needs to add some lbs. and spend more time in the weight room.
I would take him immediately, because his recruitment will heat up.
We do have offers out to 3* and 4*.

This player looks really good on tape. Be nice to have a big that can shoot it. Like the offer

On tape, this kid shows a lot of skill and potential offensively. He needs to add a lot more weight and muscle though, a year or two in the weight room and some good URI dining hall food will do.

Not just his scoring but the way he handles the ball, behind the back and no-look passes, his court vision is amazing.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑2 years ago On tape, this kid shows a lot of skill and potential offensively. Lots of talent with the basketball in his hands. Yes needs to add lbs. and strength, probably had a big growth spurt and his weight didn't catch up to his height.

- Best player that I've seen? Team Swish 2022 forward Nate Brafford (Pictured). He's a do-everything long and lanky 6-foot-8 forward with a great offensive skill set on the perimeter that can beat you in so many different ways. He is averaging over 30 points per game and has done so in spectacular fashion. Rhode Island is currently in heavy pursuit of him and was in attendance for him on Saturday.

Re: '22 NC/GA SF Nate Brafford (Offer)
Looks like he pinned the tweet that we offered? Thats a great sign.
I'll take anyone that can shoot. Especially someone who's 6'8... I watched as much game tape as I can find. HIs shot is great, and it looks like he can score in a variety of ways. He seems to take smart shots as well and has a high IQ... However, he is extremely skinny and looks a little slow. I do think he'll have issues scoring against D1 players. But, if he really worked on his body, this kid looks like he could be a steal.
He reminds me of a player Davidson would land...Get it done, Cox!!!!!

Steevie, Read your description and was thinking exactly the same thing- looks like a Davidson player. We could do a lot worse.

Re: '22 NC/GA SF Nate Brafford (Offer)
Brafford earned an offer from Rhode Island after his play at our HoopSeen Best of the South event held last weekend. Brafford was named to our Top Performers team after he averaged nearly 25 points per game over the weekend for Team Swish. The long and lanky prospect is interesting because of what all he can do on the floor. He can handle the ball off the break, he can shoot from long-distance and can score in the paint. He is 6-foot-8 and can play multiple positions on the floor.
Offers : Mercer, Rhode Island, Florida Gulf Coast, Lehigh, Western Carolina, Stetson and North Florida.
His Own Words : "I most likely will take a visit to Rhode Island. After next weekend I should have a better feel about my recruitment. Virginia Tech and Florida both called and said they would be at my tournament this weekend so depending on how I play I will have a better understanding of what I will do. I don’t have a timetable yet. I guess whenever I feel good with a school I will commit."
Our Pick : This one is still early and a lot of coaches still have yet to put their eyes on Brafford because of COVID-19. If it were to end tomorrow, I would probably lean towards Rhode Island. They are his biggest offer and watched a lot of games over the past few live period weekends. Should have a better idea after this final live period and if Virginia Tech or Florida decide to pull the trigger.

We recruited, quite heavily, a guy from the same Rabun Gap school who decided on Davidson several years ago. He was from Serbia.steveystuds06 wrote: ↑2 years ago Looks like he pinned the tweet that we offered? Thats a great sign.

I don't know what this means, but I found it interesting. Of all of Nate's tweets, including the ones showing all of his offers, he has 1 pinned tweet.

Been very quiet on his recruitment.
Not sure if there is still any interest on either side.

Has this kid said when he's going to announce? He still only has one pinned tweet on his twitter account and that's our offer to him, so obviously he's still interested. He sees it every time he goes on twitter and he could have deleted it, but hasn't. Are we still interested in him?

Re: '22 NC/GA SF Nate Brafford (Offer)
Here’s the latest I could find, posted on Hoopseen30.com:
“ One of the best players out of WNC in a few years, Nate Brafford, a 6-foot-8 guard/forward now at Rabun Gap (GA) has surpassed the 2,000 career point mark. He can play multiple positions on the floor and is one of the deadliest shooters in the region. Brafford spent his first two seasons at Tuscola High School in Waynesville, North Carolina before transferring to Rabun Gap (GA). He holds offers from mid-major programs and a high-major offer from Rhode Island. He split time this travel season with The Georgia Stars and Team Swish playing on our HoopSeen stage. ”

Nice to be considered high major. So maybe we’re the best school who has offered.

Per Verbal Commits, he picked up a couple of offers in late July, but nothing since then. Strange that his recruitment hasn't picked up, since he seems to have grown and he's producing really well.

Re: '22 NC/GA SF Nate Brafford (Offer)
"Well, we weren't going to offer the kid, but now that some posters on an Internet message board have advocated for firing the head coach..."
FWIW, outside of Mike Powell's dad, I don't think this board moves the needle one way or another when it comes to potential recruits. Unless you're a small-time D-I program, every fan base has plenty of boosters, critics, rivals, yahoos and cranks that are messaging and tweeting at recruits, for better or worse. It's always going to ultimately be up to the head coach and assistants, as well as the needs of the player (do they want playing time? proximity to home? a certain location?), when it comes to signings.

Re: '22 NC/GA SF Nate Brafford (Offer)
PLEASE LAND THIS KID COX!!
I know we go entirely over the top with recruits, but I have watched as many live games of his as I can. He's special on the offensive end.
He's 6'8
He has a beautiful handle.
He passes the ball very well.
He has a nice runner
He can finish with both hands
He has a midrange
He can post up
He can run the fast break
He takes smart shots
He moves well without the ball
He battles for rebounds
He can pull up and drain the 3 from NBA range..
Obviously, he's a stick and needs to put on weight, but I think this kid will be a problem in the A10. This team needs a skilled 6'8 shooting guard/wing with a high IQ.. This is the type of player that Davidson lands.
I'm starting to lose faith that Thorr will get rid of Cox after the season. Chance and Brafford are two players that I think I could get excited about. Unfortunately, things are so bad that incoming players are the only thing I can look forward to.

URI is easily his highest profile offer. I always ask, what does URI see, that other high-major/P5 teams don't?

Maybe we have eyes in the region, or something akin to that? We have recruited here and there from the south in the Hurley and Cox regimes, like grabbing Mike Layssard and Greg Hammond from Louisiana.Rhodymob05 wrote: ↑2 years ago URI is easily his highest profile offer. We have landed plenty of players that I expected to be busts. Like Hammond. Anyone at his size that can handle the ball like he can and score in a variety of ways intrigues me. Maybe he gets to this level and sucks. At the very least, I know he can hit an open 3. Most of our guys can't even do that.Rhodymob05 wrote: ↑2 years ago URI is easily his highest profile offer. I realize there is no current interest in our recruiting at this point, but I will still try to update.
Also, Fordham's top player and leading scorer Antonio Daye had opted to transfer to Coastal Carolina for 22-23.
