Time for the staff to put on the full court press.

I am sure the staff is because he is a recruit that can be a program changer and he is right in our backyard.

I still think our chances are extremely slim, but I guess there is always some hope.

How big of a factor will NIL opportunities be in his decision?

If he were to go to URI, he would be following in the foot steps of Ernie Calverley and the Shannon brothers. All of them went to high school in the same Pawtucket building which has operated for close to a century as - PHS, PEHS, and THS.

Being a 5* top 25 player, the NIL can easily play a part in his decision.
Especially if some nice opportunities come his way and that program has a successful path or track record to the NBA.

It's gotta be nice to play in front of your home crowd every game. Where all your friends you grew up with can come and see you play every home game. Hope it works out for URI. It would be a great get.

I think he would be the highest ranked recruit since Lamar Odom for us. Now I'm getting excited.

Safe to assume that Bassy fall in the rotation this year with the talent brought in this offseason. If we lose him as a transfer due to lack of play time, I'd imagine that would all but eliminate us from contention for Miranda?

Does anyone else think Bassy's season could affect this recruitment? Or am i just creating an excuse for why we wont land this top recruit?

Somehow, I don't think Bassy's situation will be a deciding factor in Miranda's decision.

I have not heard that, thought he would be leaning toward USC or UCLA.

Anywhere other than UCLA would be a surprise. I guess it could change if other schools can put together a strong NIL package, which most schools are working on in general. The playing in front of friends and family is a nice comment, but he’s also going across the country for his senior year.

I agree UCLA...no mention of coaching staff or facility just family watching him play. NIL will pay for family to going out west to watch him!

Played freshman year in RI at Tolman.
Then transferred to the Phelps School (Pa)
Last year at Commonwealth (Ma)
Now prep year at SC Academy (Ca).

Article mentions UCLA associate HC Darren Savino playing a major role in his recruitment.

Darren Savino is from NJ. Played basketball at St Anthony High School under Bob Hurley Sr. and was teammate with Bobby Hurley.

Which if that's the case, it's commendable. I would respect that. But I hope we have a chance anyway. We need a hometown hero. Been awhile.

Probably the biggest recruit since Odom. Or so it seems. What's to jinx? Either he comes here or he doesn't. But to not discuss the biggest recruit in quite awhile? I mean Jared Terrell had 70 something pages. This is a RI kid who is going to the NBA. To have us in the final 8?????? It doesn't matter where he goes, he's still going pro. But coming to RI, man that would be awesome.

I think most of us didn't think we had a shot at him until he posted his final 8. We still might not have a shot, but it's fun thinking about the possibility of him being in a Rhody uniform.

Just joking around, blueram. I don’t believe in jinx’s.

In my case, I don’t have much to add at this time other than that it would be an excellent signing from a recruiting ratings perspective and a tremendous local story. The signing would get us some excellent national PR too. I haven’t watched any video on him so I don’t have a definitive opinion as to his NBA potential or pro potential. I’ll have to watch some video on him.

I just watched a few of his Twitter vid’s. A very good handle for a seven footer, very coordinated and fluid for his height and surprised at the jumping ability. He has a nice jump shot form for a big, too. Doesn’t look clumsy at all but a bit thin however, he has the frame to bulk up.

Would be a home run signing if we land him. Great national PR and probably more national TV games, too. He could turn out to be our version of Marvin Barnes (without the tire iron and other baggage)…Rhody fever grips the state as local big takes State U on deep tourney run!

Does anyone have any links to game competition vids?

Visiting Louisville this weekend with official visit.

Miranda is also setting up visits to Texas and Oregon. He has already taken officials to USC and Georgetown and unofficials to UCLA and UConn.

Class of 2023 Southern California Academy and Rhode Island Elite big man Isaiah Miranda says he had a “great” official visit to Louisville this past weekend.
“It was great,” he told ZAGSBLOG. “I had a great time learning from the staff and players they treated me like family.”
Louisville coach Kenny Payne and his staff would use the 7-foot Miranda as a multi-positional frontcourt player.
3-5 and using me to play faster and expand the offense,” he said.
Ranked the No. 5 center nationally by 247Sports.com, Miranda has a final eight of Georgetown, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, UCLA, UConn and USC.
He is also setting up visits to Texas and Oregon.

Couldn't the booster that's part of the Milwaukee Bucks ownership woo this kid? Throw him some money for a few tweets and a hand shake agreement the Bucks will use a 2nd round pick on him.
