 so much for the néw era and the international influx! They were better last year! They almost beat prov with Darth Dania’s recruits! I guess same old same old with this program.

We're without four of the five players that started the PC game last year. This is a total rebuild in the truest sense of the word considering the program's history. We saw how that looked with Hurley. Progress is not going to be linear and it's going to take more than a year

“This is a total rebuild “ what roster are you looking at? The point of bringing in foreign players, grad players, and transfers is so you don’t have to rebuild! And if that is the measure than this first game blowout against a mediocre prov team does not bode well for URI. Riley at least brought in some good recruits the problem was that team underperformed under Darth Dania and last year did the same thing when they left some wins on the table that they should of had. My observation is Rhody teams the last 5 years have had decent enough talent but played selfish which you lay at the coaches door step. What I’ve seen is poor game planning , lack of execution, poor sub patterns and strange lineup choices! Bring in a bunch of transfers and foreign kids who are supposed to be seasoned is supposed to solve those issues. Should have been over 500 last year and got past first round of playoffs but Rhody teams have played undisciplined and selfish which is job number 1 in changing the culture.

And laughable officiating in the first minute (may be less qualified people willing to travel and ref overall), as the exact charge called against Rhody on one end gets whistled as an "and one" blocking foul to the benefit of UMass.

I guess it was the officiating tonight that did them in! 0-4 with the new culture and influx of foreign talent? They should have hired Riley! Rhody keeps going backwards instead of forwards and things have stunk for a long time yet the women’s AD has no accountability? Something stinks in the Ryan center! We might not win a game this year. So so sad!

Flipping through the cable guide, I saw Rhody Women's hoops was on...saw a couple minutes (not close enough to pay attention), did some other shtuff...came back, it was over and there was a cooking show on instead. And now, I need to know what Sam the Cooking Guy did with those figs...seriously, they played the guy's show up until he had those babies sizzling in a frying pan in butter (already 'can't miss', regardless of what you got in there) walked over to get some things, grabbed some honey, and then the show cut off to some thing called The Immortals. What the heck....now I'm off to googleville to find out what the heck happened to those figs...

ETA: Fried em up a little on each side in the honey and butter, then threw a blob of labne on a plate, slapped a couple figs in it with a little of the honey butter grill juice, a smidge of coarse salt on the top...and that was it. Looked pretty good... I'm not sure if I like figs or not, but I do like fig newtons...this looked a little healthier.

What’s the problem ?? Just not playing well enough or lack of talent. Do we have good recruits coming in that want to play for Tammy R ??

Recruiting in any sport is the name of the game and you are not going to compete with top 50 schools in that regard. So you got to get creative, be able to develop players, find players that other schools missed. Doesn’t seem like the international experiment is working though there is time but it seems there has been a regression. Jorgenson , Jones , Dale, oberg , Almamay (sp) modify, were all Riley’s recruits and played very well at times, and could have been a solid team but underperformed under Dania and Tammy I thought. That was a pretty good nucleus and you sprinkle in a Vargas (foreign) it had potential. New coach has a right to bring in who they want but for all intents and purposes the foreign experiment is not looking too good right now. Sometimes the answer is in your own cupboard and maybe URI should have looked hard at Riley, there were some advocates on this board for him. He is actually making an impact at Bryant in only his second year. I like Tammy but like Dania maybe not what will turn it around in Kingston. Hoping that it does work for TR but if it doesn’t I’d look at the guy you had who was actually doing a great job bringing in foundational players working under a wacko Dania !

Nice come from behind win, on the road over a very experienced team that had been playing well. Hopefully, it will be something on which to build.

RHODY won at Richmond Friday night by 3 moving to 4-2 in A10 Conference. Best start in A10 for URI in 25 years.
Richmond was 3-1 going into this game

Emmanuelle Tahane had an almost perfect game playing all 40 minutes:
11-13 FG
1-1 on 3FG
2-2 FT
3 steals
25 points
13 rebounds

URI will stay in Richmond to play 4-1 VCU Sunday 1pm

Congrats on another terrific win. Really like Tahane and Foppossi. Muzet is a glue player who does many things well. Vargas is playing well and the freshman Cairns is going to be really good. Coach Reiss is connected with this group and once she brings in some more athletic wings her match-up zone is going to be really effective and she will be able to go man more. They will have some tough nights but Coach has this program going in the right direction.

Very good third quarter tonight on another victory. 5-2 in conference and 5-5 overall after starting 0-4. Cairns was on fire and plays with great confidence. Great find by the staff. Tahane is so physical and efficient. Runs the court really well and the staff puts her in places to be successful. Looking forward to next game.

Great improvement has taken place since the beginning of the season. The team plays unselfishly, is well discipled, has really hit the boards and is playing solid defense. Looks like they have bought into what Coach Reese is preaching. Better days are ahead.

They keep rolling! Again coming from behind as much as 11 in the second half and putting it on LaSalle-75-60. Tahane is a first team A10 player, 21 points on 9 for 12 shooting, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. Foppossi with 19 and Freshman Cairns chipping in 17. Vargas is running the team really well and collectively we play very unselfish. Coach Tami and staff are doing a tremendous job!

I don't follow the women's team much but you could tell from Day 1 that Coach Reiss had the IT factor. Someone you want to play for. Good to see the success coming on the court.

In Overtime
Tahane played 44 minutes and Fopossi played 43 minutes
Muzet played all 45 minutes

Solidly played and coached in the overtime session after St Joe tied the game to go into OT.

Next up Friday Feb 5 at 4pm George Mason in the Ryan Center.
George Mason is (0-8) 3-13)

URI could go to 6 straight wins by winning Friday then face George Washington (1-8) (4-11) next Sunday.

I just caught the overtime on Yurview. Not pretty, but they got it done. Announcer said they had a 15 point lead at one point and scored just 3 fourth quarter points. Good resiliency to bounce back in ot.

Found a way to win on a really bad shooting afternoon. Tahane with big offensive rebound and unselfish pass out to Cairns for huge three in O.T.
Foppossi was having her way until St. Joe's went zone in second half. 5 in row! I think they have the bottom teams in A10 coming in next weekend.
