Please whatever you do, wear your masks and keep socially distant. My inlaws live in Florida and it's terrible because people just don't care to do what's good for everyone.

I was there on the 4th. Place was packed and everyone having a good time. Not sure on the parking, I think it's locals only. Not sure if there are other lots available. But if you are bringing beers/alcohol on the beach, don't put them in a cooler. Put them in a backpack and transfer to cooler on the beach ;) . They might check the cooler but not backpacks. But Gansett is open!!!! Just be discreet with alcohol as I did see people get kicked off the beach by Narry cops for open drinking.

Go to a different beach...I've always thought that one (not part of the pass system) was overrated and way overpriced...plenty of other great beaches in the area.

The article is wrong. An assault on a person over 60 causing bodily injury is a felony. The article said age 65.

I love gansett beach (cant beat the vibe witj the casino, etc.) but have been doing Scarborough more recently.
Park on one of the side streets and walk right on. No BS, no outrageous fees, no one busting chops about drinking a beer.

At Gansett, all the lots are for pass holders or employees only. Out of staters can go, but you need to get there early and find on street parking.

I need a quiet, free beach spot, any suggestions? I don't care about surf, concessions, showers, boardwalks, bungalows or bikinis. I just want to lay out in the sun by the water without people kicking sand on me, is that so much to ask for? Considering RI boasts the claim that it has more coastline than any of the other 48 contiguous states, surely there is a 30ft stretch somewhere not overrun by stupid humans.

Good luck. The problem is parking.

Camp Cronin Fishing Area near the southern end of Ocean Road by Pt Judith Light. A dirt road leads to a small dirt parking lot. There is a small sandy beach to the rigth/west on the inside of the Harbor of Refuge jetty wall.

Hull Cove in Jimmytown is nice. Maybe Marine Ave in Newport? So many quiet beaches in this state.

If you're not looking to swim (as the water is usually polluted) and want to just hang out/read on shore, the part of Oakland Beach that overlooks, Warwick Neck (runs off Bay Ave, near the public boat ramp) is usually free. Likewise, the part that overlooks Buttonwoods/Warwick City Park (near Sea View Ave) is usually uncrowded. Cominicut Pt in Warwick is another scenic option (nice view of the skyline and boats coming in). Both are free

In Jamestown, Ft Wetherill has a small beach that's usually uncrowded. If it doesn't have to be sand, the other area of Wetherill and Beavertail are one of my favorite places on Earth to relax. Free Parking at both.

Terrible news of Wakefield Brickley’s closing because some selfish, asinine “adults “ couldn’t follow the rules allowing everyone to enjoy ice cream.

Yep, stupid, silly. I don't want to wear a mask or anti-social distance, but if it's a requirement of the business owner...I'm doing it. If the business or property owner doesn't require it...I'm not doing it for one second. Not worth fussing over...just gotta either do that stuff where required, go someplace else, or go without.

How crowded have Scarborough and Gansett been?

Coming up for a long weekend, probably going to both but just wanted to see if they're overly crowded.

Narragansett was packed today on Sunday.
High tide was about 1pm and really squeezed the people together as beach space decreased.
Looked like a lot of non-Narragansett people
