Let me tell you who his game reminds me of obi toppin what does everyone else think?!
Yikes! That’s quite a leap (no pun intended). Who knows, though?
It’s nice to be talking about sports these days, after having none of it for almost five months. I’ve had some back and forth email chat with friends today regarding the Celtics - Heat series: reminds me of how things were prior to mid March.

Agree. And I recognize that you mean Obi when he was a junior in HS and that Samb has a long way to go to get to Obi's current level, but based on his body type, athleticism, skill set, style of play etc he does remind me of a Toppin.

So, to get out ahead of the crowd that is going to tell us to slow down, don't get crazy with expectations, etc. we're just saying he reminds us of, not that we expect Samb to be Obi. I've been reading a little about Samb, he sounds confident, if he's also coachable, we're in luck.

Obi wasn’t 6’8” his Jr year of high school. He had significant growth spurts after HS. Obi was 21 years old in March of his Fr- RS year. Obi had ball handling skills and outside shooting skills early in his high school years because he was 6’4”-6’5”.
Samb is a big who has to continue to develop his ball handling and outside shooting skills.

Yup, all that superfluous stuff is true. No one said they were carbon copies in anyway. We said one reminds us of the other for various reasons currently.
I learned how to shoot before I learned how to dribble and pass, I was big enough to play with my back to the basket until most peers grew taller than me in HS so then I became practiced at the dribble and pass. My handle, currently, is probably the best part of my poor game.
Again, no one says Samb will be the next Obi Toppin. Just that he reminds us of Toppin. For me specifically he makes me think of Jacob not Obi, when I first watched his highlights I thought he looked springy, athletic, motivated and active with a smoothness that made me think of J Toppin.
Let me put it this way: if someone were to tell me Abdou was a younger Toppin brother and I had only seen Samb's basketball highlights, I would have bought it.

Early signing period starts this week on Wednesday, looking forward to getting his signature.
I really like Samb, as I posted several times earlier he was my favorite big that we were recruiting. He looks strong, has good hands, a very nice touch, and also moves well in the paint. I am excited to see him here.

Definitely not as robotic / awkward as some bigs look shooting.
Although after this season, I won’t be getting excited for any recruits / transfers until they step on the court for us.

Kid looks like a beast. Would love to see him add another 15 lbs of muscle. Could be another Hassan French.
How about another Cyril.
Heck yeah. Would take that as well. Doesn’t look to have to same athleticism as CL, but that could come. Hope Samb develops into a force down low. Time will tell, but I think it’ll be good to have him learn from the Mitchell’s.
IUPUI's head coach was fired, so I'd think that probably explains the transferring. He played OK at that level - a bump up in points per 40 and shooting percentage, but still a pretty poor rebounder for a 6'8"ish big.
