Rhody, losers of 4 of their last 6, heads to Amherst bruised and battered to take on the rival Minutemen. Rhody is looking to end their regular season with a win before heading to Brooklyn for the A10 tournament. UMass is looking for a win to finish the A10 conference at .500, which hasn’t happened since 2014-15 season. UMass has been playing well as of late & Tre Mitchell is going to be a dominant force in this league for years to come. Really love his game...well minus him throwing in 30 the last time these 2 teams squared off. Coach Matt McCall has done a great job with this young team. I have a love/hate relationship with his coaching staff. LOVE Assistant Coach & ex-Rhody great Tyson Wheeler, HATE Assistant Coach Tony Bergeron who tried getting into a fight w/David Cox last game. Maybe this little road game will clear the mind because the last 2 home games have not been good at all as they never had the lead at all during those 2 contests. I know I am not saying anything groundbreaking here but Rhody needs to play better on the defense end as it has been less than ideal as of late. And their shooting hasn’t been much better. My guess is that URI will be favored by 2 in this game. My prediction, Fatts hits a 3 to win it at the buzzer & this game builds some momentum for Brooklyn. Final score URI 68, UMass 67. Go Rhody?!

This is what URI Fans miss when they run to their cars so early in haste to get into that car line madness.

Bet all will be staying around tomorrow night for the Handshake (or should say elbow bump) line at the end of the game

FWIW, UMass has won four out of its last five games including a nice win over Saint Louis at Mullins. In the SLU game they came back from an early 16 point deficit taking their first lead with a few minutes left to win.

Playing time will benefit the confidence of Harris, Long, Walker and Toppin.

Encourage Toppin to take a bunch of threes. The kid can shoot, let him go.

There is no need to wear out the starters any further. Many here think they are overly tired, so now is a great chance to rest them

I’d love to see Harris, Toppin, Walker and Long for 30+ minutes each tomorrow. Freshmen vs freshmen.

Hate to tell you that Davidson and at home to St.Louis are not quality loses. They are probably going to lose today or before the A-10 finals anyway, but why would we get taken?? One quality win over PC when they were playing awful. If you enjoy the NIT and I don’t you can get a home game by doing the scenario you mentioned.

I don’t consider a top 75 AWAY game a bad loss, and a top 50 loss to the 4th place team in the league bad losses. If we are 21-9 we are on the bubble with work left to do. I know it doesn’t seem that way because we have played like shit for two weeks.
