Re: '20 MD SG - Brandon Murray (Offer)
I missed when URI, the school that made back to back NCAA appearances were recruiting top 50 or even 100 players on a consistent basis or were confused with Kentucky, Duke, UNC or Kansas. Sure, we all want that as does every coach, but unfortunately it is not a reality for URI as is true with the majority on D-1 schools.
I have seen Brandon play once live and on some videos. He looked like a good prospect to me, though I have not seen him enough to form a good opinion, not that my seeing or opinion on him would matter. Believe it or not I still talk to people in AAU , HS and prep circles and I have only heard good things about him regardless of the rankings. Players are different in development, attitude, potential and ability to improve and what coaches see in them.
In our position, unfortunately we do not get the one and dones or top 50 players. But there are also a lot of very good players out there that are not recruited by the power 5. Off the top of my head, I would like to see ratings on guys like Karl Malone, Steph, Dame Lillard, Paul George or more recently JA Morant, Obi and for us a guy like Jimmy Baron. Seems to me the "professional" recruiting gurus get it wrong at times.
It still amazes me the opinions and of some ,that are posted on here because of ratings, something they read or a you tube video. Maybe these experts in evaluation are correct, ok, but IMO it is similar to taking legal advice from someone that their greatest credential is watching episodes of Judge Judy

So, supposedly Georgetown was out and Georgia hasn't offered yet. I like our chances against ETS and DePaul.

Hoyas are local though. DePaul was his first offer. ETS came around same time as DePaul.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑4 years agoSo, supposedly Georgetown was out and Georgia hasn't offered yet. I like our chances against ETS and DePaul.
Uphill battle.

Didn't I see something yesterday that said that Georgetown was no longer recruiting him?DC_Rams wrote: ↑4 years agoHoyas are local though. DePaul was his first offer. Yes, but seems the writer edited and back tracked on that statement.

They need guards and they are local and in the Big East.
I’d say so.

In an interview Murray stated, “URI has contacted me the most.” (Sutton and Cox) could go a long way.

Especially considering we have quite a few families traveling from the area. Every little bit helps.

I wonder if Brandon knows Antwan. He might be able to give him some advice about Ewing and G'town.

We may all hate Georgetown and Ewing, but not his fault that Antwan got into a fight.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑4 years ago I wonder if Brandon knows Antwan. He might be able to give him some advice about Ewing and G'town.

Not all outgoing transfers have bad things to say about the program they're leaving. See Mekhi Long saying positive things to the Mitchell twinsBillyboy78 wrote: ↑4 years ago I wonder if Brandon knows Antwan. He might be able to give him some advice about Ewing and G'town.

Re: '20 MD SG - Brandon Murray (Offer)
Georgetown basketball board has 22 pages on Murray. As most power 5 boards would think they feel it is down to Georgetown and Georgia and can’t see the remaining teams having any shot. It doesn’t look good if Georgetown decides that he isn’t a fall back option and they want him.

Re: '20 MD SG - Brandon Murray (Offer)
Without having any inside info, I would say he wants to go to Georgia the most, but if he doesn't get an offer from them, the favorite is Georgetown, with us next.
If he holds to April 25th as his decision date, we have 17 more days to chew on this.

Thing is that he has spoken more highly of us than GTown. I think we sit behind Georgia but can never count the home team out. Hoping those guys get other commits before the 25th. I can guarantee he isn’t their top priority like he is ours.rambone 78 wrote: ↑4 years ago Without having any inside info, I would say he wants to go to Georgia the most, but if he doesn't get an offer from them, the favorite is Georgetown, with us next.

6’4” DePaul guard Jalen Coleman granted a 6th year of eligibility for next season. Don’t know where they stand with open scholarships but another guard returning for them can only helps us.

Seems big enough to play the three. Any renewed interest now that Jacob is gone?

Where is the announcement text? I’m sure the staff reached out today. To at least try.

The guy who said Murray is making a decision today just deleted his tweet maybe staff might’ve talked to him in time

Re: '20 MD SG - Brandon Murray (Offer)
So, what's the selling point? " Hey Brandon, yet another one of our guys is transferring. You want to come and be a part of this?"

Hey, Brandon, Tyrese Martin is gone. Jacob Toppin is gone. That starting wing job is wide open now. We play 3, sometimes even 4 guards/wings at time. Plenty of playing time to go around, and we need a shooter with your ability.
