Brandon Murray, an every-improving senior out of Baltimore, has been one of the more talked about names in recent weeks and for good reason.

Finishing his high school career at Baltimore Poly this winter, Murray has produced in a mighty fashion. Averaging over 23 points per game while making 70-percent of his shots from the field and 53-percent from 3-point range, Murray has boasts plenty of tangibles that would allow for him to produce next year in college.

“Brandon is a powerful, 6-foot-4, 200-pound, combo guard, that plays with high efficiency and skill,” Baltimore Poly coach Sam Brand said. “He brings elite athleticism and strength to the guard position.”

While Murray has yet to take an official visit, he is in no rush to make his college decision so expect for his recruitment to bleed into the spring. DePaul was the first high-major to offer earlier this winter but more have jumped into his recruitment including Ole Miss and Virginia Tech. Rebels’ head coach Kermit Davis saw him over the weekend while the Hokies were in for him earlier this week.

A group including ETSU, North Texas, Siena, St. Bonaventure and UNC-Greensboro have offered, while Georgetown, George Washington, Virginia and Wichita State have expressed further interest. Look for more to jump into the picture thanks to the versatility that he possesses and the dearth of prospects available.

Don't really know if our connections are any better than all of the others. Balt Poly is a real power this year; I assume Cox et al must know some people in the Baltimore area since we did sign Brandon Adams a few years ago and I know that Balt Poly plays St John's in DC for whatever connection that might yield.

However, Baltimore and DC are really different worlds

Agree that he would be a great addition for URI, but has something new happened since we offered him a scholarship? I see a ton of schools that are involved with him so I didn’t look like are chances are great unless we somehow convinced him a lot of playing time right out of the gate. He would be a very good get for us.

Coach Cox and Coach Sutton are working hard. Schools like Georgia and Memphis have gotten in the mix. Ole Miss and Depaul are possibilities as well. Look for a decision by the end of the month.

Rhode Island is probably the school that talks to me the most. Rhode Island has been upfront with me, too. They offered me late, but told me they were going to talk to me as much as they possibly can and they’ve lived up to their word. If it isn’t Coach Sutton texting or calling me, it’s Coach Cox.

I have April 25 down as the date that I will make my decision.

That brings up a point I've had privately. There are no video tours of any URI facilities that I know of.

Most schools have like a YouTube video of their football or basketball arena's.

URI has a basketball video that they share with recruits. It’s not public on YouTube.
The virtual tour they are putting together covers that and more about URI campus life etc.

Good article. It sounds like Ole Miss might be in the lead for him with URI behind them and if he decides to go to a bigger P5 he may choose Georgia. The coaches seem to be on him quite a bit, so it will be interesting to see if Cox can get him to choose URI over Georgia and Ole Miss. I’m not sure where the rosters stand with each team.

Top 10 makes more sense when there is a ton of time between then and your decision. But if you're a transfer or the decision is around the corner, it's more of a problem.

Transfers should have learned enough during their time in school to know exactly what they are looking for. Top 5 at most.
