Let’s Talk LANGEVINE

Unread post by LoveThoseRams »

I have to say, I will miss this guy for so many reasons next year!

His energy, his spirt, his sense of humor, his leadership, his athleticism, and lately his wise maturity on the court.

Hoping he reaches his 1000 at home Tuesday and we are all there to celebrate with him.

Agree. Hope fans appreciate this guy. Throughout his career fans have complained about his hands, his FT shooting, his turnovers, etc., and some of that is fair (and some is overdone), but I hope it doesn’t overshadow just how much of a beast he is and how much that helps us. The Duquesne game is the example that sticks out to me: we were getting killed on the glass on the defensive end and couldn’t get the ball back with him sitting the whole first half with foul trouble, go to half down 6 or 8 or whatever it was, he comes back in the game and takes over the paint and we win the second half by thirty. His box score for that game was not anything special but watching the game it was clear what his presence was doing - he was an absolute game wrecker. I’m hopeful that we can replace his production next year, but there is definitely going to be an adjustment period to figure out how to play without him on the court. We can do a lot of stuff we otherwise wouldn’t be able to because of his impact against penetration, post defense, defending ball screens, canceling out the other team’s best rebounders. Love that dude.

My wife and I spoke to him during the season tix event before the year began. Really a great guy. Fun loving and down to earth. On the court, the guy is a BEAST!!!!! Yeah, let's enjoy the 4 games we have left with him at the RC.

His sense of humor is VERY refreshing.

Most guys are like automatons when they are interviewed.

He encompasses everything our program is about.

We have built this program by playing our asses off and believing in each other.

He goes out there and battles every game.

He and TJ are up there leading the way as far as energy guys go.
Defense, making plays on offense. Fighting.

We've had a WARRIOR for four years.

Not a lot of programs have a guy like that.

He's 5th in career rebounds. He has a chance to catch Kenny Green for 4th. Anybody who saw Kenny play knows how impressive that is.

If we win Tuesday while Cyril scores 1K, I wonder if Rothstein will acknowledge we have three 1K scorers on our team and say his patented “experience > talent / one and done” tweets.

I actually think his taking the three last night somewhat reflected great awareness of how and where he fits. Guy knows that's not his game, but at the time, it was low risk, with extremely high reward potential. If that had gone down...might've required a stoppage in play to repair the roof...

I was so happy for him shooting that 3 yesterday. I knew it wasn't gonna even touch the rim but it made me laugh because he had so much space to himself. Cyril is a great guy and if you see his instagram stories, also a complete jokester.

He's so darn strong. I love it when these guys try to back him down to the post; it's like they're hitting a concrete wall. The kids all look up to him as a leader. He does the tough work. He will be missed for sure.

Cyril Langevine Appreciation

Unread post by Rhody_NYCT »

I think it's time to appreciate the warrior that is Cyril Langevine. No, he is not perfect and has flaws in his offensive game, but I would go to battle on the hardwood with him any day of the week. If I could make a deal, I would take Cyril Langevine in my Rhody starting lineup every year going forward. He's a great rebounder and defender and his motor is second to none. Thank you Cyril for your hard work. You have had a huge impact on Rhody basketball and have helped make us a winner. Looking forward to watching you do your thing for the rest of the season.

Guy is one of the hardest working players I've ever watched. He kills me when he puts the ball on the ground, but hes a program changer.
