URI travels to the Bronx to take on the lowly Fordham Rams. I am not even sure this game deserves a write-up but then I realized Fordham has won 3 of the last 4 (2 of those at the Ryan Center) against Rhody. WTF, how is that even possible!? So there you have it, here is the write-up. URI is coming off a tough OT loss in Davidson in which they did not shoot the ball well in the first half. They battle back in the 2nd half but end up losing in OT. Rhody will need to shoot the ball better than they did in Davidson if they want to win in the Bronx. As for Fordham, well…they are Fordham. 1-13 in the conference. In 6 of their conference games they failed to reach 50 points & one of those contests they didn’t surpass 40. Yikes! They don’t have anyone scoring over 11 a game. This team is not very good. Rhody needs to just take care of business, get the win & go home. Don’t look ahead to St. Louis & Dayton. Just win the damn game. URI should be favored by about 16. URI starts off slow but ends up winning 63-49. Go Rhody!!

Rhody needs to start coming out strong in these final games: too many slow starts recently.
Staff needs to design the offense to get Fatts going early, too. He needs to get to the line. No free throw attempts versus Davidson; that’s not what we’re looking for. He can get his rhythm with early free throws.
Of course, things could open up for him if one or two other guys could hit an outside shot consistently so the defense doesn’t pack the lane, but therein lies the problem. It has to fall to Dowtin and Martin.

They play pretty good defense too. They can really muck up a game. We have won a lot of those, just dont want a rough showing to get us down and we start pressing and find a way to lose.

Just got to come out ready to go, play good defense and shoot the ball decently and we will be fine.

Defense being 5th in the conference I think is very misleading as the opponent possessions are way down since Fordham is very slow on offense reducing the number of opponent possessions.

Speaking of that, didn't Fatt's eye or head get injured in the Dayton game? I know he played through it but maybe he hasn't been 100% since then which would explain the less than expected performance at Davidson. I've only been able to listen to the games covered by CBSSN so I didn't see what happened to him. I hope he really is well enough to play.

Looking at Soriano’s Freshman year to date, he has really spurted since getting into the starting line up in the Dayton Game. Since Dayton:

Richmond: 26 minutes, 2-4 FG, 9 rebounds, 6 points
@ Davidson: 22 minutes, 4-5 FG, 9 rebounds, 9 points
Duquesne: 36 minutes, 3-6 FG, 9 rebounds, 8 points

Nobody likes this game. It is one of those games that you wish you forgot about than checked the score and saw that we won. It doesn’t matter if it is by 1 or 30. Let’s be honest if we can’t beat a 7-19 team that has little going for it and no home court advantage than are we deserving of a NCAA tournament bid?
