URI Basketball Cliches
I read a post about all the things URI has to do for the UMASS game and I got to looking up sports cliche memes......
But this got me laughing
What are your favorite cliches used on KeaneyBlue?

Least favorite and cringeworthy for those of us who lived through that time on KB and projo boards - “da process”

Re: URI Basketball Cliches
Most used here by far -> One game at a time. (When winning multiple games at once would obviously be way better)
Then there's ... 'strange things happen whenever we go to _____' and, 'It's always 8 against 5 whenever we play _____.'

Bill Koch just said this in the UMASS game write up, hadn’t heard this one before.
Rams will be forced to manufacture their own energy and take the occasion for what it is.
Like the Rams are going into the locker room at halftime to manufacture some energy for the 2nd half

He must be talking about the fact that there are thousands of tickets left. A little disappointing. I figured we'd follow up the VCU game with a decent crowd. Hopefully, we get 2000 students to fill it up a little,

Well done

Typical low key dig from Koch, surprisingly it’s been a while since he’s had one.

It’s not a bad cliche if it’s true. I’ve never seen Bill be off on an attendance take. In a season like this, anything less than 80% full is an embarrassment to this fan base.
Which is saying something because this fan base is pretty awful for any non-major games. And even when we do get crowds, many elderly folks...so winded from clapping.. leave by the under 4 time out.
Any Koch bashing gets old when we’ve established time and time again that he’s a neutral party we’re lucky to have objectively covering this team at a high level.

Re: URI Basketball Cliches
The amount of people I saw clearing out before the buzzer on Friday night... not that it doesn’t happen at 98% of the games, it simply astounds me. It’s like leaving church right after communion. You’re still going to be sitting in traffic anyway, people.Blue Man wrote: ↑4 years agoIt’s not a bad cliche if it’s true. I’ve never seen Bill be off on an attendance take. Re: URI Basketball Cliches
I don’t know if this is a cliche but I can’t stand “laser focus”
It’s used a ton in the business world. Like do they teach that at Harvard?
What does it mean? I’ll focus on something , ok, but then that’s not good enough, I’m told I need to give it a laser focus?

Re: URI Basketball Cliches
Agreed, not only is it an inappropriate phrase, it misses the fact that the best teams have a broad concept of what they are all about and the various ingredients to a winning program. Laser focus is like spending time zeroing in on a weed.

“Let’s table” “laser focus”.
Why do people think they’re important for using those types of lame ass corporate terms? Okay middle management vanilla Gary.
