St Bonaventure’s Fan Forum

Rhody travels from the Ryan Center to the Reilly Center to take on the St. Bonaventure Bonnies this Saturday. URI came back from a double-digit deficit early in the second half to win by 22 in their last game against Duquesne to stretch their conference win streak to 5 games. Conversely, the Bonnies are coming off 2 blowout road losses to Dayton & VCU respectively. Bonnie’s big man Osun Osunniyi has been out with concussion symptoms recently & could potentially miss this upcoming match-up as well. That could mean big things for Cyril, Harris & Walker down low. Rhody looks to avenge their loss against the Bonnies in last year’s A10 tournament. Playing in Olean is never an easy task & if Kyle Lofton gets going by scoring & facilitating it could be a long ride back to Kingston. With Osunniyi out I see Rhody squeaking out a victory by 4. Let’s keep this train rolling! Go Rhody!

100% free I watch it all the time. Including a High school game for our incoming freshman Ishmael Leggett. Usually a pretty good stream.

I’m going to actually disagree haha. I have this one bucketed into a group where a loss is not a complete disaster. It would be great to grab a Q2 win here, maintain position in conference standings and continue the momentum that Rhody has going here. But winning in Olean is always tough and Bonaventure is a solid and very capable program. I have this game in a basket with @Davidson and VCU at home where losing one of those games is probably survivable. Obviously a huge preference for winning this one and keeping that one in our pocket for down the road in case we need it (best case is we don’t but trying to be realistic).

This is an important little road trip here - Bonnies will play tough and Mason isn’t a complete gimme. Road conference games are always tough but Rhody will be favored in both of these (Bonnies by probably 1-2 assuming Osun plays, Mason by probably 4-5).

If Osun is out we have to win this game. If you can grab a quadrant 2 game (and they're barely a 2 instead of a 3 right now) when a team is shorthanded you can't let the opportunity pass, and if they slip to a 3 then it will be a bad loss

Chris DiSano indicated on the URI-Duquesne post game show that St Bonaventure big man Osun Osunniyi will most likely be doubtful for Saturday's game per his sources. He has missed their last two road contests due to concussion symptoms and did not even make the trip to Dayton last night. Could very well end up being a game time decision on him for the URI game.

Osun's participation in SBU games has a big bearing on their performance thus far:
Bonnies with Osun: 11-1, +11.3 scoring margin
Bonnies without Osun: 1-6, -11.4 scoring margin

This is what I was getting at. With Osun, this game is the type of game TruePoint described. It's not a killer loss, but an opportunity for a good win. If he's out, they're not a good team, and yes conference road games are hard, but you still have to win that game

If we can snap the second longest home winning streak in the country at VCU, we can no question win at the Bonnies who are a lesser team and may not have one of their best players.

We can win this game and do it by leading the whole time 8-10 points IF WE SHOW UP. After last night's great win I don't want us to think we are just walking in their with a W. If the team has the killer instinct like it did in 2H last night, we can beat anyone in this conference. But that's a BIG IF.

Another revenge game for Jeff. Two years ago he missed a key FT(s) at the end of the game that broke Rhody’s 13-0 A10 streak. Upon returning from Orleans, Jeff went to the RC at 1:30 in the morning to shoot FTs.

Yes, indeed. I think the team usually stays at that glorious "casino" they have there in Olean. About 5 or 6 years ago I remember there was a mishap with the charter and the team ended up taking back a bus to Kingston. That must have been one horrendous ride overnight.

Not to mention that bus driver for the away team bus (I think it was St. Louis?) that disappeared during the game and got a DUI while the team was stranded for a while.

St. Bonny in Olean is a rugged challenge. That place can be like an insane asylum, will be packed with students with nothing better to do.

Their choices were: skiing, skiing, snow boarding, and Bonny B-Ball... and they got tired of skiing 2 months ago.

Bonny is positioned to be the spoiler of the conference, so this is going to be a huge game in hostile territory.

It's quite the interesting schedule Rhody managed to draw from the A-10. Each game is a slightly tougher challenge than the last, like climbing the rungs of a ladder.

They can lose one of Davidson or St. Bonnie’s on road, but need VCU at home. They are losing at Dayton so are we thinking they don’t slip up the rest of the way and we have the huge game at home against Dayton at home at the end. Tough to project all this with a lot of the season left, but as usual little room for too many loses.

The Bonnies are coming off 2 20+ losses to VCU and Dayton. If this team just stays poised and plays like we know they can, we should get out of Olean with a victory.

They lost on the road without their best player. If he is back they will be tough at home. Not saying we cannot win the game, but it’s not going to be a walk if Osun plays. If he is out, as some speculation indicates, that’s a different story. I think with him they might be the fourth or fifth best team in the league and that is a tough place to play.

I downloaded the app “Stadium TV” on Roku and when I clicked it, a live stream of whatever sports show started playing, so I’m assuming that is it.

Currently on the channel is St Mary’s and Pacific. No HD, but better than the disaster MTSU stream.

For those in Rhode Island who have a standard OTA (Over The Air) antenna, Stadium is available on channel 27.4 (WUTFDT4)

For those Cox customers in Rhode Island who have their recently distributed CONTOUR modem box connected to the Internet, Stadium is available on PlutoTV channel 491. Just press the CONTOUR button on your remote control and say “Pluto TV”, and then arrow to channel 491.
